Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Radiation Medicine Therapist for an onsite Radiation Oncology position in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week and is responsible for accurately delivering prescribed radiation therapy using current equipment while providing quality patient care.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Radiation Medicine Therapist prepares and positions patients for treatment, reviews treatment prescriptions and prescribed doses, operates radiation therapy equipment, administers prescribed radiation treatments, monitors patients throughout treatment, documents delivered dosages, and assists with treatment planning and equipment safety.
ROLE
• Prepare and position patients according to established procedures.
• Review patient treatment charts for prescriptions, treatment times, and prescribed doses.
• Prepare treatment rooms and equipment according to procedure.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide education regarding treatment reactions and care of irradiated areas.
• Prepare and transfer patients for treatment as needed.
• Position patients, set up equipment, and adjust and activate controls.
• Administer prescribed radiation therapy according to established procedures.
• Operate radiation machines to provide the prescribed dosage.
• Monitor patients during treatment for movement and changes in physical condition.
• Ensure blood counts and port films are satisfactory and recorded weekly.
• Calculate surface dose, depth, cumulative, and total radiation doses in the absence of the Radiation Physicist.
• Assist the Physicist with patient contours and measurements and verification of treatment plans.
• Document treatments and exact dosages delivered in the patient chart.
• Maintain treatment-field diagrams and document physician-ordered changes to the original setup.
• Clean and maintain equipment and inspect equipment safety interlocks.
• Monitor equipment and report malfunctions.
• Maintain required records, supplies, and treatment-room readiness.
• Participate in patient care conferences and continuing education.
• Follow established infection-control and safety procedures.
Requirements
• Associate's Degree or equivalent from an accredited institution providing the required knowledge of Radiation Medicine REQUIRED
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures, familiarity with equipment, and proper equipment setup normally acquired through 3–6 months of on-the-job training REQUIRED
• Ability to work onsite in Boston, MA REQUIRED
• Analytical ability to determine proper equipment and patient setup, calculate treatment length, and detect adverse reactions to treatment REQUIRED
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with patients and others REQUIRED
