Description

The Burn Table Operator is responsible for independently operating and maintaining plate processing equipment within the Plate Shop. This role supports production by cutting, forming, drilling, and preparing metal components according to engineering drawings and production specifications.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Layout, position, secures parts according to specification. 

2. Ensure correct material is used according to the Job Traveler.

3. Ensure that all parts are marked with Job #.

4. Verify that all remnant plates are marked with proper HT#, PO# before they are returned to storage.

5. Parts that are unloaded are organized in job kits.

6. Understand all burn table functions and daily maintenance requirements.

7. Operate burn table as necessary to produce parts. 

8. Oversee daily production of items produced. 

  1. Inform Plate Shop Lead of shortages or material issues. 
  2. Safely operate a forklift, overhead crane and combilift to handle materials and completed work.

  3. Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers and coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure
  4. Respectfully takes direction from supervisor or manager
  5. Load and unload trucks
  6. Will maintain cleanliness and order in work area
  7. Prepares and cleaning parts 
  8. Removing rough spots from work piece using portable grinders or hand files.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

2 years of experience preferred

Education and/or Equivalent Experience

High School Diploma and 2 years of experience in shop environment preferred.

Training: Forklift, Crane Operation, ERP, Quality Management System

Critical Skills

Computer Skills: Good understanding of computer operations

Reasoning Ability: Ability to read blueprints and understand parts 

Physical Demands

Regularly: Standing, lifting, operating equipment.

Work Environment

Shop environment.
