Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, close tolerance, fatigue rated fasteners using materials such as alloy steel, 718, titanium, waspaloy, A-286 and multiphase. Job purpose: The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for maintaining 100% inventory accuracy, ensuring AS9100 compliance, and supporting our production lines by managing raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished fasteners. This role is critical in ensuring that our "made-to-order" and "stock" items are tracked with surgical precision to meet strict aerospace delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily cycle counts and full physical inventory audits. Reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and our ERP system.
- Maintain strict lot traceability for all fasteners. Ensure all incoming materials are accompanied by required certifications (MTRs, CoCs) in accordance with AS9100 standards.
- Unload, verify, and inspect incoming hardware and raw materials against purchase orders. Document any damage or quantity shortages immediately.
- Pull and kit materials for the production floor, ensuring machinists and operators have the exact hardware required for scheduled jobs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and labeled warehouse environment. Implement 5S methodologies to optimize storage space for small-batch precision parts.
- Package finished goods according to customer specifications, ensuring parts are protected from damage during transit.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 2–3 years in inventory management, preferably in a fastener, aerospace, or precision machining environment.
- Strong experience with ERP/MRP software (e.g., JobBOSS, SAP, or similar). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems is a significant plus.
- Ability to distinguish between look-alike fasteners (different thread pitches, materials, and coatings) with high accuracy.
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain one). Experience using digital scales for high-volume part counting.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs consistently.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for the majority of an 8–10 hours shift.
- Willingness to work in a "busy shop" environment which may include exposure to noise, oils, and temperature fluctuations.
