Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) is seeking a dedicated full-time Patient Care Technician to join our team at the REST Program in Waynesburg, PA. In this critical role, you will help support patient recovery by monitoring medication self-administration, facilitating therapeutic activities, and providing direct support to individuals receiving treatment.

As a Patient Care Technician, you will work directly with patients to promote medication safety, encourage treatment engagement, and support daily therapeutic programming. Responsibilities

  • Complete medication self-administration training and demonstrate competency.
  • Monitor patient medication self-administration and therapeutic treatments.
  • Ensure medication documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  • Educate patients on safe medication practices and adherence to program policies.
  • Conduct medication cart audits.
  • Facilitate discussion groups and therapeutic activities.
  • Monitor patient behavior and provide appropriate support.
  • Document observations, patient care, and patient interactions.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with clinical, medical, and administrative departments.
  • Conduct patient handbook orientation.
  • Conduct searches of patient belongings, rooms, and person as required.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, medical staff, and patients.
  • Assist patients with assessment forms and intake paperwork.
  • Support communication with family members, friends, and referral sources.
  • Assist with crisis intervention efforts.
  • Transport patients to appointments, support groups, activities, and other assigned destinations.
  • Complete progress notes and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Collect urine specimens and complete required drug-screening documentation.
  • Provide post-discharge contacts and referrals under therapist direction.
  • Monitor activities of daily living (ADLs), including chores, behaviors, and grooming.
  • Attend mandatory GRC trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What Do We Require?

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, CNA, Medication Technician, or EMT experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check.
  • Ability to obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting clearances.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Complete a 2-step TB test.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Clean driving record with the ability to transport patients as assigned.
  • If in recovery from substance use disorder, a minimum of 18 months in recovery.

What Are the Work Conditions?

  • Substance Use Disorder Treatment Facility.
  • Required to remain awake and alert while on duty.
  • Mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to maintain a safe treatment environment.
  • Favorable working conditions with minimal physical demands.
  • Moderate mental demands associated with responding to multiple patient needs.
  • Minimal to moderate exposure risk to blood, body fluids, and respiratory infectious agents.
