Job Summary:

An Ultrasound Technician is a healthcare professional who specializes in using ultrasound equipment to capture images of the internal organs and tissues. These images are used by physicians to diagnose and monitor various medical conditions. The technician is responsible for operating the ultrasound machine, preparing patients for procedures, and ensuring the quality of images captured.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general, vascular, and OB/GYN ultrasound examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Perform vascular studies including arterial, carotid, and venous ultrasound examinations.
• Prepare and position patients appropriately for ultrasound procedures.
• Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Review images for quality, accuracy, and completeness before submitting for physician interpretation.
• Recognize normal and abnormal findings and document preliminary findings according to established procedures.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinical team members regarding patient status and imaging findings when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate patient records, images, and required documentation.
• Perform routine equipment quality checks and report equipment concerns or malfunctions.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide professional and compassionate care throughout the imaging process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Ultrasound/Sonography Program and/or registered through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). 
• ARRT certification and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) credential, as applicable. 
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
• Minimum of two years of sonography experience.
• Must have experience performing General, Vascular, OB/GYN ultrasound studies.
