SUMMARY

The Remote Technician will perform complex technical troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs to the Company’s fleet of ground support equipment. The Remote Technician performs most duties independently at customer locations and serves as the primary point deployed resource for technical issues. The Technician will be responsible for fostering and building customer trust to grow relationships with Mercury GSE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following functions may be performed in variable weather and environmental conditions such as 

jet engine fumes, dust, or jet engine noise:

  • Serve as customer contact on technical equipment issues as required.
  • Establish, grow, and nurture customer relationships.
  • Perform a necessary sequence of operations to troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust ground support equipment, machinery, accessories, parts, etc. and explain the work procedures to personnel assigned to aid in that work. 
  • Demonstrate strong self-management, field diagnostics expertise, and customer-facing professionalism while meeting Mercury GSE standards for safety, quality, and documentation.
  • Possess expert-level knowledge of primary and sub-hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair of powertrain assemblies and sub-assemblies and components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to test, analyze, and collect data for repairs and equipment calibration.
  • Heavily relied upon to perform advance diagnostics and capable of completing complicated repairs
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic software and able to read, delete, and regenerate utilizing diagnostic software.

  • Possess advanced knowledge and capability of troubleshooting (schematics/flowcharts) repairs and adjust electrical and hydraulic systems and components.

  • Diagnose and repair/replace air conditioning systems and components (compressor evaporator, condenser, etc.)
  • Perform quality control checks on completed maintenance and repairs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in GSE maintenance and operations, implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations team.
  • Able to safely and legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Complete forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in an effective, safe working condition.
  • Report any safety violation, machining equipment misusage, and/or improperly performed work to supervisor or lead.
  • Responsible for following the rules and regulations set forth by federal, local, state government and Mercury GSE.
  • Keep the work area clean and free of any safety hazards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Mercury GSE reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

  • This position requires regular travel to customer locations within the assigned region. Periodic out-of-area travel will be required based on business needs.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 7+ years progressively responsible experience in heavy diesel vehicle experience preferred
  • Proven history of effectively interacting with customers, problem solving issues, and building positive customer relations.
  • Expert knowledge of ground support equipment inspection and ability to diagnose mechanical equipment issues
  • Able to work independently with limited direct supervision in a remote/field-based role
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and service calls in a customer-driven environment
  • Able to complete and submit service documentation (work orders, inspection reports, diagnostics) and communicate status updates remotely
  • Possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Must be able to travel 100% of the time, within short notice at some opportunities
  • Travel will consist of domestic and international to support Mercury GSE customers 
  • Must perform work with own tools
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Valid ASE certification or other Diesel certification is a plus
  • Must be able to secure proper airport authority security badges.
