Description

The David D. Hunting YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic, professional, and motivated intern to work directly alongside our Executive Director during one of the Y’s busiest and most exciting times of the year, Annual Campaign season.


This is more than an internship where you sit on the sidelines. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, donor relations, community engagement, board relations, marketing, and communications. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and have the chance to see firsthand how a nonprofit organization builds relationships and raises funds to make a difference in the community.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support the Executive Director throughout the Annual Campaign season
  • Assist with Board, Staff, and Community Campaign efforts
  • Help communicate with donors, board members, staff, and community partners
  • Assist with donor thank-you letters, acknowledgements, and follow-up
  • Help develop creative ways to engage donors and increase campaign dollars
  • Assist with getting the word out about the YMCA and the impact of our work
  • Support campaign events, meetings, and donor engagement opportunities
  • Help organize campaign materials, tracking, and communications
  • Gain exposure to nonprofit fundraising, leadership, and community relations
  • Take on additional projects based on your interests and strengths


AVAILABILITY

  • Fall internship, September- December with flexible start and end date.
  • Up to 25 hours/week


COMPENSATION

Currently, we are unable to offer pay for internship hours. Interns who work over 10 hours a month are eligible for a free YMCA membership.

  • A willingness to learn, take initiative, and jump in wherever needed
  • Current college student; nonprofit, business, communications, marketing, public relations, or related majors are encouraged to apply


 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
