Position Summary
The Buyer performs professional procurement and supply-chain functions requiring discretion, independent judgment, and decision-making on matters of significance. This role sources and selects suppliers, negotiates pricing and delivery terms, evaluates supplier performance, manages inventory levels, and collaborates cross-functionally to support operational requirements. The Buyer ensures cost-effective purchasing strategies that support production, quality, and overall business goals.
Essential Functions
- Source raw materials, manufactured components, services, and consumables to support production and business operations.
- Exercise discretion in supplier selection based on competitiveness, quality, alignment with company values, and long-term supply-chain considerations.
- Maintain appropriate safety stock levels to support production continuity and mitigate supply chain risk.
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness; address performance issues as needed.
- Conduct supplier site visits and audits to assess capabilities and compliance with company requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure supplier compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and logistics providers to optimize freight, shipping methods, and delivery schedules.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, delivery terms, and vendor agreements to achieve cost and performance goals.
- Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery in support of production schedules.
- Analyze inventory levels and procurement processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, documentation, and reports within ERP systems.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and communicate planned or unplanned absences in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety protocols and standards are met.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of professional Buyer role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and price negotiation.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex data.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse work environment with employees at all levels.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, dependability, flexibility, and timeliness.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to move throughout office, warehouse, and production environments unassisted.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and timely communication of planned and unplanned absences in accordance with company policy.
Preferred
- Prior experience working with manufacturing equipment.
- Basic computer hardware and software knowledge.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in both office and production environments.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, data entry, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout facilities as required.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including listening and speaking.

Safety Equipment
When entering designated production areas, employees are required to wear steel-toed safety shoes and approved eye protection with side shields. Hearing protection is required only in posted areas of the production environment, in accordance with safety signage and company policy.
