We are tasked with staffing the Veterans Health Administration with Remote Internal Medicine - Physician Geneticists. The Physician is expected to do the following:
The Department of Veterans Affairs currently has a shortage of genetics teleconsultation clinicians, including medical geneticist physicians and genetic counselors. The Contractor shall furnish all key personnel to provide services necessary to perform genetic services via virtual care, including medical genetics evaluation and genetic counseling to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the range of genetic services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of the quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards as established by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the American Board of Genetic Counseling
- Scheduling patients for Virtual Video Connect (VVC) consultation and indicated follow up appointments.
- Review of patient medical records as they relate to reason for genetic evaluation.
- Genetic evaluation and consultation with appropriate documentation in Veteran medical record.
- Ordering the appropriate genetic test based on the patient’s clinical indication and in accordance with evidence-based and Clinical Genetics-specific best practice guidelines.
- Receiving and interpreting genetic test results.
- Communicating genetic test results to patient and appropriate patient providers.
- Communicating appropriate follow up/management recommendations to patient and appropriate providers.
- Shall have a current license to practice medicine in the State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia where Veteran is residing
- Shall be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Clinical Genetics by the American Board of Genetics and Genomics and the American Board of Genetic Counseling
- Be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Multiple state license preferred. Known States with respective VISN: VISN 5: California, VISN 4: Texas, VISN 3: Illinois, VISN 2: Florida, VISN 1: New York
