Helper
The HVAC helper assists the HVAC technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems by performing tasks like carrying tools and materials, cleaning work areas, assisting with equipment removal and installation, fabricating ductwork, and performing basic troubleshooting under the supervision of a qualified technician; essentially providing support to ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting installation:
o Helping to load and unload equipment, positioning units, securing components, and assisting with ductwork fabrication and installation.
2. Maintenance assistance:
o Cleaning air ducts, filters, and coils, lubricating motor bearings, inspecting system components for wear and tear, and assisting with system testing.
3. Repair support:
o Identifying potential issues, holding tools, removing and replacing parts as directed by the technician, and cleaning up after repairs.
4. Tool management:
o Maintaining and organizing tools and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety procedures are followed.
5. Material handling:
o Transporting materials to job sites, including insulation, wires, and replacement parts.
6. Basic troubleshooting:
o Assisting with identifying basic issues with HVAC systems, such as leaks or malfunctioning components.
7. Safety compliance:
o Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines while on the job site.
Required skills and qualifications:
· Basic understanding of HVAC systems and components
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
· Physical strength to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces
· Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (may be required)
