Position: Brewer
Department: Brewing
Reports To: Brewing Lead
Shift: 2nd Shift - Employees must be available to work Monday-Friday 4:00pm-4:00am and occasional weekends. Employees must be willing to work on the opposite shift (4:00am-4:00pm) when necessary.
Summary: Yuengling is looking for a full time Brewer to join the team at America’s Oldest Brewery. The Brewer will effectively, efficiently, and safely meet all job requirements, abilities, accountabilities, and goals as directed by the Brewing Lead.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all panel-mate screens and effectively monitor and operate as many as 15 screens.
- Visually monitor each department floor as needed (mills, mash-in tub, sparge water, press, kettle, spent grain screw, basement, trub tank and hydraulics in the laundry room).
- Able to troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
- Responsible for notifying the Maintenance or Electrical teams when support is required.
- Regularly checks grain silos and determines which silo is next to be emptied.
- Monitor syrup hut and switch huts if needed.
- Ability to unload grain cars and syrup tanks as they arrive and/or when space is available.
- Require to set up pit and applicable conveyors to unload grain after the cars are finished emptying and unload dust collector.
- Responsible for removing dust from dust collector and vacuum under the silos and dump the drums in the D.E. dumpster.
- Monitor materials in Hop Room and verify reorders when needed.
- Weigh all materials needed for each brew.
- Cleans the pit and track area, pull the boots, and dump the grain and dust into the D.E. dumpster.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in correctly cleaning and maintaining all mill equipment.
- Unload syrup cars, disconnect, and flush all unloading equipment with hot water.
- Maintain cleanliness on all surfaces and floors.
- Must be familiar with brewing beer and cooling wort.
- Must understand fassing and tank cleaning procedures.
- Possess knowledge of filtering and carbonating processes.
- Responsible for hooking up beer tanks.
- Assist with QA Checks.
- Must be familiar with the CIP system and capable of sanitizing hoses, vessels, and other brewing equipment.
- Responsible for brewing, fermenting, aging, and filtering beer.
- Perform in-place cleaning and sanitizing of hoses, vessels, and equipment.
- Able to work independently without direct supervision to complete shift responsibilities.
- Require maintaining clear and effective communication with all members of the Operations Department.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and weekends as needed, as well as complete other duties as assigned by the Manager.

- Possess a mechanical aptitude to hook-up rail cars, run solutions systems, etc.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to use a forklift to unload trucks of brewing materials.
- Ability to work at elevated heights: top of fermenters, rail cars, silos.
- Ability to unload railcars of bulk brewing materials.
Required Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent statement can be added for education level.
- Proficiency with computer skills and data entry.
- Experience in manufacturing environment is not necessary but preferred.
- Experience with hands on work and mechanical aptitude is preferred.
