Fairfax Neonatal Associates (FNA) is seeking experienced Neonatal Advanced Practice Providers (Neonatal Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants) to join our team in a PRN capacity.  

This opportunity is ideal for neonatal APPs seeking a flexible schedule while continuing to make a meaningful impact in the care of critically ill and premature newborns.

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

This position supports our experienced neonatal team on an as-needed schedule, working out of Inova Children’s Hospital NICU in Falls Church, Virginia.

• Scheduling is based on staffing needs, patient volume and PRN availability.
• Availability for day, night, weekend, or holiday coverage may be requested based on operational needs.
• Shifts may vary by scheduling period.
• Scheduling expectations and needs will be reviewed during the interview process.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

• A deep understanding of neonatal pathophysiology and how it applies to a premature or sick newborn.
• An understanding of ventilatory management in the NICU.
• Up to date neonatal resuscitation skills.
• Strong clinical skills in neonatal-perinatal medicine and critical care procedures.
• Ability to interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests. 
• Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and family-centered care skills. 
• Proficiency in electronic medical records documentation and basic computer applications. EPIC Preferred.  
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented NICU environment. 

Education & Experience 

• Board Certification in Nursing and Board Certified as a Neonatal-Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with NICU experience. 
• VA Nursing license, VA APP license, DEA Certificate, NRP Certification, BLS Certification 
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in Level IV NICU(s).

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Coordinate and manage NICU patient care in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and families. 
• Provide family-centered care, patient education, discharge guidance, and specialist referrals. 
• Communicate patient updates, significant clinical changes, and care plans with multidisciplinary teams and families. 
• Document patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical information accurately in EPIC. 
• Perform neonatal procedures including intubation, umbilical lines, PICC insertions, thoracentesis, and moderate sedation. 
• Deliver detailed patient handoffs/sign-outs to ensure continuity of care. 
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

COMPENSATION

• $105.00 per hour. 
• Shift differential pay available for eligible shifts worked.
