We are seeking a compassionate and talented Part-Time Beautician (20 hours/week) to provide professional hair care services to our Sisters in a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment. The salon is an important part of daily life at Mount Notre Dame, providing our Sisters with an opportunity to feel their best while enjoying meaningful connection and conversation.
In this role, you will provide personalized salon services while creating an experience that supports each Sister’s dignity, comfort, and individuality. The Beautician works as part of the Activities Department and plays an important role in helping create a positive and engaging environment for our Sisters.
Part-Time – 20 hours/week
Typical Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
Some scheduling flexibility is available, including the occasional ability to pick up additional hours.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional hair care services in a warm, welcoming, and respectful salon environment, including shampooing, cutting, styling, perms, and sets
- Consult with Sisters to understand their preferences and provide hairstyles and services that meet their individual needs
- Create a positive salon experience through friendly conversation, companionship, and attentive service
- Schedule appointments and accurately document services provided
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary salon in accordance with infection control standards and state regulations
- Maintain adequate salon supplies and communicate purchasing needs to Central Supply
- Handle salon payment and billing processes accurately and appropriately
- Communicate respectfully with Sisters, families, and staff while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
- Support the emotional and personal well-being of Sisters through patience, kindness, and respectful interactions
- Attend required meetings and training and participate in facility surveys as needed
- Follow facility policies and applicable State and Federal regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Current cosmetology license or applicable professional license required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Beautician or in a similar role
- Healthcare, long-term care, or geriatric experience preferred
- Knowledge of sanitation, infection control, resident rights, and applicable state salon regulations
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service and organizational skills
- Ability to manage appointments, documentation, and multiple responsibilities accurately
- Professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to use steady, dexterous hand movements and maintain adequate close and distance vision
