Description

Under the general direction of and reporting to the company Vice President of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, the Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for managing regulatory compliance, labeling, and packaging, change management for products, labeling and packaging, regulatory registration of packaging and regulatory services to ensure compliance with all applicable North American regulations and policies. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will handle product developmental projects with Supply Chain and Innovation partners. The Regulatory Compliance Manager ensures that all facility registrations and product labeling are compliant in accordance with various federal, state, and international guidelines. The Regulatory Compliance Manger will work with other department personnel and their management to support compliance throughout the organization.  


The person in this position is committed to assuring that Stella & Chewy’s, LLC and co-manufacturers produces safe, legal, and wholesome pet food products that meet our consumer’s expectations.  


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage emerging regulatory issues pertaining to food labeling and assure compliance for Stella & Chewy’s, LLC.  
  • Communicate current and emerging food labeling issues due to regulatory changes to cross functional groups of business. 
  • Maintain knowledge of pet food processing and regulatory requirements for labeling, regulatory activities, and trends.  
  • Responsible for all communications for label registrations, regulatory notifications, and correspondences with state departments of agriculture and CFIA. 
  • Responsible for budgeting and payment of product registrations.  
  • Responsible for claims supporting documentation including annual verification of supplier and company compliance to manage labeling accuracies.  
  • Responsible for communicating product packaging regulatory approvals to innovation and creative divisions of the organization. Manages tracking of product packaging changes and communicates these within entire organization.    
  • Engages with Innovation team to carry out product testing, assessments, and interpretation of results for product labeling development.
  • Engages with Customer Service, Marketing and Sales on product projects including completion of customer required documents, new product communication, and product FAQs including website updates. 
  • Works with Senior FSQA Manager for International as support for international regulatory compliance.  
  • Manage business growth projects as assigned by the Vice President of FSQA
  • Communicate effectively with supply chain, marketing, and quality assurance departments.     
  • Abide by all safety rules and safety regulations as set by Stella & Chewy’s, LLC.

Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a computer. Requires the ability to operate various software applications such as Microsoft Office platforms and an inventory management system. Requires the ability to use lab equipment and other instruments. Requires the ability to be able to flex work hours as requested. Requires the availability to work weekdays and weekends as needed. Requires ability to travel up to 10% of the year.  

Education and/or Experience

Requires education generally equivalent to an Associate’s or Bachelor of Science Degree in related food manufacturing field.  

A minimum of 5 years of experience within food processing environment is desired. Quality Assurance experience, SQF Certification, and Preventive Controls for Food Manufacturing certification is preferred.
