Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Heavy Assembler I is an entry level position that is part of a team responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the production and manufacturing of Hazelett strip casters. This includes operating machinery, assembling products, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Heavy Assemblers play a key role in ensuring products are built to meet quality standards and production deadlines.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Cleaning, inspecting, and preparing components for assembly (including RMA parts for repair/evaluation)
  • Assemble various Hazelett components including large complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural systems using blueprints, diagrams, written procedures, and verbal instructions.
  • Align and position components to Hazelett specifications to meet customer needs.
  • Use various hand/power tools and measuring tools to execute tasks.
  • Inspect products for defects or inconsistencies, ensuring that all products meet company standards.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the Team Lead and assist with troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Follow safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any issues or discrepancies in the production process.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and management to meet production goals and ensure the smooth operation of the manufacturing process.
  • Support routine maintenance of machines and equipment, notifying maintenance staff of any necessary repairs.
Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles and how components fit together.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willingness to work cooperatively as a team.
  • Willingness to work in varying temperature environments and possibly noisy or dusty conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production assembly role is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
Salary Description
$21.50 to $29.00 / per hour
