Description

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Marketing Intern supports the marketing and communications function at Alzheimer's Los Angeles by coordinating content across departments, capturing stories from the clients and communities served, and assisting with an organization-wide rebranding initiative currently underway. This role provides hands-on experience across social media, email marketing, event storytelling, and brand strategy while directly supporting ALZLA's mission to serve families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. 


This role is:

  • Hybrid, requiring some in-person work in the Los Angeles area.
  • Part-time, non-exempt, working approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Expected to last through mid-December 2026. 
  • Paid at $19.00/hour.

Our mission to improve the lives of families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia by increasing awareness, delivering effective programs and services, providing compassionate support and advocating for quality care and a cure.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the collection of social media content and ideas from program and department staff; liaise with ALZLA's social media contractor to relay content and coordinate posting schedules
  • Build out a LinkedIn content strategy for ALZLA's profile, and implement it by drafting, scheduling, and posting content to grow visibility and engagement
  • Work across departments each month to identify and gather content for ALZLA's monthly email newsletter
  • Attend education and outreach events to take photographs and gather stories, quotes, and highlights for use in marketing materials and social media
  • Write brief event recaps and human-interest stories for use in newsletters, social media, and the website
  • Support the organization's rebranding process by documenting existing materials and assets that require updating, and help develop a strategy and timeline for the rebrand rollout
  • Partner with program staff to identify and collect client and family stories and testimonials, with appropriate consent, for use in marketing and fundraising materials
  • Support efforts to strengthen internal staff communication, including helping to build and launch an internal newsletter
  • Build and maintain a PR outreach list of local newspapers, outlets, and community publications
  • Draft and distribute press releases and other PR materials for key programs, events, and announcements
  • Share ALZLA's monthly program calendar with local papers and community event listings to promote upcoming classes and events
  • Support other marketing and communications projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish, required
  • Strong writing skills; comfortable interviewing staff, clients, and families with empathy and discretion
  • Basic photography skills and comfort attending in-person events
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn); experience with Canva or similar design tools a plus
  • Highly organized, with the ability to follow up across multiple departments and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in person in/around the Los Angeles area
