Description
The Load Out Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently loading hopper bottom trailers with quality wood pellets, and for maintaining quality, safety, and housekeeping standards throughout the load-out area.
Responsibilities
- Safely Operate a Front-End Loader to Load Hopper Bottom Trailers with Quality Pellets, Minimizing Spillage.
- Perform Pre-Shift Preventative Maintenance Checks on the Front-End Loader — Including Fluids, Air Filters, and General Condition — and Report Any Deficiencies.
- Verify Pellet Temperature and Quality Before Loading and Collect Daily Barge Samples from Truck Drivers.
- Maintain Accurate Loadout and Inventory Records, Including Truck Number, Product, Tonnage, and Daily Load Counts.
- Maintain Logs and Record Labor, Materials, and Equipment Used.
- Communicate Operational Information and Escalate Equipment, Quality, or Loading Issues Promptly to the Shift Supervisor for Resolution.
- Participate in End-of-Shift Discussions on Pellet Quality and Next-Day Preparation Requirements.
- Follow All Highland Pellets Safety Policies and OSHA Requirements for the Handling of Hazardous Materials.
- Wear Required PPE at All Times in Production Areas, Including Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots, Safety Vest, and Hearing Protection.
- Ensure Compliance with Local, State, and Federal Codes and Regulations.
- Report to the Current Shift Supervisor and Escalate Any Unresolved Issues Immediately.
- Perform Other Related Duties as Assigned and Serve as a Backup Resource as Needed.
Requirements
- Ability to Work Multiple Shift Schedules, Including Shifts up to 12 Hours, to Support Continuous 24/7 Operations.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.
- Prior Heavy Equipment / Front End Loader Experience Preferred.
- Must Complete Written and Field Training for Loader.
- Meticulous Attention to Detail; Able to Follow Instruction Both Written and Verbal.
- Ability to Climb Ladders, Stairs, Scaffolding and Ramps.
- Ability to Stoop, Kneel, Crouch, Reach, Stand, Walk, Push, Pull, Lift, Grasp, Shovel, Rake and Any Necessary Requirements to Keep Area Clean and Safe.
- Ability to Work Extended Hours to Include Nights, Weekends, and Holidays.
- Ability to Work Outdoors, Rotating Shifts, and Lift 50 Pounds Required.
