Purchase product for the Beer and Wine Department. Organize and carry out beer and wine sampling. This position may also fill in for other grocery replenishers. Knowledge of current trends in the wine and beer industry as well as familiarity with basic beer & wine types and flavors is required. Buying and experience working with vendors is preferred. Must enjoy working with the public and have superior customer service and organizational skills. Requires regular lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
The purpose of this position is to replenish-order, receive, manage inventory, and stock sub-department items while meeting objectives for sales and customer service. The Replenishment Buyers, with assistance from Marketing and Merchandising, also organize and carry out product samplings. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Assist in special events, demos, food fairs, etc.
- Maintain item par level in Catapult for auto ordering
- Conduct scheduled cycle counting in collaboration with POS department
- Coordinate with marketing and vendors to ensure product availability to support in-store demos as needed
- Meets regularly with Merchandising Manager to review product assortment, such as new items, discontinued items, etc.
- Build attractive displays with uniform signage; ensure displays are fully stocked, rotated, and fronted to ensure freshness and abundance
- Assist in planning and implementing seasonal programs
- Execute in-store and NCG promotions in the sub-department
- Stay current of developments in the natural products industry through reading trade publications and talking with brokers
- Attend trade shows as assigned
- Participate in sale change over, building displays and hanging new signs
Purchasing
- In collaboration with Merchandising Manager, negotiate with distributors, brokers and sales reps for favorable prices, terms, quality and delivery schedule and research and evaluate new suppliers, as needed
- Research and recommend new products; rotate varieties seasonally
- Evaluate suppliers and research new or alternative sources of supply
- Review invoices for accuracy with respects to promotions, proper pricing, discount accuracy, price changes, product additions and department breakout
- Ensure damaged, miss-picked and miss-ordered items are handled using established credit procedures
- Follow up to be sure that credit is received from suppliers where applicable for returned or low-quality produce
- Maintain a sufficient amount of inventory to maximize sales and turnover, keeping overstock to a minimum
- Continually refine plan for back stock storage and ensure that stock clerks understand and follow plan
- Track shrink and adjust ordering to reduce losses. Report slow moving items to the Merchandising Manager
- See that unsellable items (recalled, out of date, damaged products) are recorded, removed from inventory and disposed of properly
- Generate and review physical inventory variance reports and update on hand counts accordingly
- Review departmental financial reports (sales, labor, margin, turns) with the Merchandising and Grocery managers
- Respond to product request forms and researches customer requests, asking for assistance from the Merchandising Manager when needed.
- Ensure that Special Orders are accurately fulfilled, communicate with customers any changes or pricing questions
Qualifications

- Familiarity and knowledge of current trends in the natural foods industry

- Will be required to use step stools, step ladders, box cutters and pricing tools
