We're seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to lead the HR function at our dealership. The ideal candidate will set HR strategy and policy, oversee the HR team, and serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and executive leadership on all people-related matters. This position requires strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and high-stakes employee matters with discretion.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Employee Relations:

  • Set the overall HR strategy for the dealership in alignment with Vaughan Automotive's mission and goals
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, including HR Generalists and support staff
  • Oversee employee relations at a dealership-wide level, resolving escalated conflicts and complex investigations
  • Advise management and executive leadership on performance management, disciplinary actions, and workforce planning
  • Support management in developing and retaining top talent across all departments

Compliance & Policy:

  • Own compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across the dealership
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve HR policies and procedures that align with organizational goals
  • Lead contract negotiations and ensure labor law compliance in partnership with ownership
  • Oversee maintenance of accurate and confidential employee records and audit HR practices for compliance

Benefits & Leave Administration:

  • Direct oversight of benefits administration and enrollment processes
  • Oversee unemployment claims, workers' compensation, and leave administration programs
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex employee benefits matters

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Set strategy for recruitment, employee orientation, and onboarding to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the company culture
  • Oversee use of HR software tools like Paylocity for recruitment and employee recordkeeping
  • Partner with hiring managers and department leaders on workforce planning and recruitment strategy

Requirements

 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree a plus
  • 7+ years of progressive human resources experience, including prior HR leadership or management experience
  • Demonstrated success leading employee relations, performance management, compliance, and benefits administration at scale
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and interact effectively at all levels of the organization, including ownership and executive leadership
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • A proactive, strategic approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion

Preferred

  • Familiarity with HR software systems such as Paylocity, Paychex, or Paycom is highly desirable
  • Automotive dealership HR leadership experience
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
