2nd Shift Shipping Lead

SUMMARY


 To deliver the Ultimate Corrugated Experience safely and efficiently. Responsible for leading all aspects of the Shipping department on a shift basis 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  

1. Monitor and enforce all company rules, Safety and Quality regulations.

2. Ensure all material handlers provide the Ultimate Corrugated Experience to internal and external customers.

3. Ensure the shipping line is properly manned for the product that is being produced. 

4. Maintain a clean Work Area using 5S.

5. Proactive communication on any issues. Overcommunicate!

6. Ensure all material handlers have the proper tools and training for the task they are performing.

7. Proactive communication on any issues. Overcommunicate! 

8. Ensure all associates are following shipping related SOP’s, Work Instruction, and Single Point Training Lessons.

9.  Monitor the quality and efficiency of Shipping Department.

10. Learn all Shipping related Axiom screens.

11. Build loads using the Auto Shipment Panel in Axiom. Cuts and departs BOL’s.

12. Communicate load tenders to outside carriers.

13. Update outside carriers with any adjusted ETA based on production run time.

14. Translate your production schedule into your transportation line up. Contact drivers, verify your trailer pool and produce a lineup that will satisfy the demands of our customers. 

15. Understand customers’ unique requirements and expectations.

16. Ability to quickly recognize the inability to service our customers and notify Customer Service to make alternate plans.

17. Ensure all orders are shipped complete and any short count is reported to Customer Service as soon as it is realized.

18. Coordinates with Production for any over/underrun and damages.

19. Reads and sends emails in timely manner for order related issues and customer needs.

20. Monitor and ensure loading and securement of trailers.

21. Correct all issues in rework area in a timely manner with the assistance of Production and ensure no rework issues are carried over into the following shift. 

22. During machine downtime ensure all material handlers are performing their assigned duties and take advantage of the time to clear line organize units and be prepared for the machine to start up.

23. Be able to load trucks and work on the shipping line.

24. Email pictures of the tail of each load. Include the Customer, MSF, trailer number, and loader in communication.

25. 1st shift prioritizes customer relations.

26. 2nd shift generates the dispatch log and manages purchase sheet orders.

27. 3rd shift handles after hours solutions.



Preventative Maintenance

Ensure that the following tasks are completed:

  1. Conveyor lines blown out and cleaned. 
  2. Shipping area swept.
  3. Forklifts should be wiped down, fluids filled and blown out..
  4. End of week duties should include turning off valve to propane      tanks and locking propane cage.


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 

Experience

  • 3+ years in a manufacturing shipping environment 
  • Experience with scheduled preferred
  • Ability to work safely adhering to all safety processes and policies
  • Functioning user of CTI/Amtech operating system
  • Ability to use Excel, Power Point, VPS and email communication. 
  • Needs to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and via email.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Indiana, Ohio and Chicago cities and streets.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a repeatedly on a regular basis. 
  • Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours a day. 
  • Bend, stand, squat, twist repeatedly.
