Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support our finance and accounting team across a broad range of accounting functions. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of both cash and accrual accounting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliation, and supporting schedules for various entities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting schedules for various company activities, assets, liabilities, and investments.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including account analysis, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Perform accounting for real estate investments, including rental income, operating expenses, property taxes, insurance, utilities, repairs, and other property-related transactions.
- Review lease terms and assist with tenant billings, landlord obligations, CAM reconciliations, and tenant account reconciliations.
- Record and reconcile investment transactions, including purchases, sales, contributions, distributions, income, gains, and losses.
- Maintain a general understanding of tax considerations and support tax compliance by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and providing information for external tax professionals for federal and state tax filings.
- Understanding of Fixed Assets and City/Town reporting.
- Support Cash Management and Finance.
- Special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
Education/Experience/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with experience in real estate, investment, partnerships, or public accounting.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
- General understanding of partnership accounting and Federal and State tax laws.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of Excel
- Experience with financial accounting software; Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar software experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle and safeguard confidential financial and business information
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
Schedule & Location:
- This Full-Time position is based in Taunton, MA working a hybrid model - three days in the office and two days remotely.
Physical Demands and Environment:
- Work performed requires or no measurable physical exertion, may be required to lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds
- Work is performed in a normal office sitting with intermittent standing or sitting as determined by the incumbent
- Work requires moderate concentration to effectively execute varied tasks with some level of complexity
- Works in a normal office environment
- Minimal potential for injury in the performance of duties
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Range: $70,000 - $80,000/year
