Based in Oakland, CA, we offer a variety of services for workplaces; such as, Office Catering, Snack & Drink programs, event catering, commercial kitchen design and operate a community kitchen. We ground everything we do in service of creating a more responsible and ethical world.
1% of our revenue supports donated meals made by our charitable arm, Just Fare Community Kitchen. So far, we have delivered over 494,250 meals to communities fighting food insecurity in the Bay Area.

Position Overview
The Training Manager is responsible for developing the training, documentation, and operational standards that help Just Fare teams consistently execute great work as the company grows.
The role will live under the Pantry Services program supporting the creation of training materials and facilitation of training across multiple markets to support the business unit and related services. The Training Manager will also support Just Fare's established Catering operations by helping maintain and improve existing training materials, SOPs, and operational documentation and facilitating training and process rollouts as needed.
The Training Manager will also serve as a resource to other Just Fare teams, supporting standardization and continuity of training materials, operational documentation, and process rollouts.
This is a highly field-based and travel-oriented role. Success requires learning operations firsthand, working alongside frontline teams, and translating real-world processes into clear systems that employees can understand and consistently execute.
The Training Manager reports to the Director of Pantry Services and works cross-functionally with leaders across Just Fare.
Training & Team Development
- Develop training material and facilitate new and recuring training for frontline employees, site leads, and managers.
- Build structured onboarding and role-specific training plans.
- Conduct hands-on field training and coaching across client locations.
- Develop tools to assess employee proficiency and identify ongoing training needs.
- Partner with managers to address recurring performance or knowledge gaps through training and coaching.
- Support training and team readiness for new site launches and major program transitions.
SOPs, Documentation & Standardization
- Support the development, organization, and ongoing maintenance of program SOPs, checklists, training guides, and operating standards.
- Work directly with operational leaders and frontline teams to document field work along with manuals and other resources to develop relevant, easy-to-use tools and resources.
- Standardize key Pantry processes including stocking, receiving, inventory, merchandising, food safety, sanitation, opening and closing procedures, and equipment use.
- Establish a consistent approach to how operational training materials and SOPs are created, organized, updated, and rolled out.
- Support other Just Fare departments in developing training materials and operational documentation as needed.
- Partner with Catering leadership to maintain, update, and improve existing Catering SOPs and training materials, while prioritizing the development and standardization needs of Pantry Services.
Field Operations & Quality
- Regularly work across locations to understand workflows, observe execution, and evaluate adherence to operating standards.
- Identify inconsistencies, operational gaps, and opportunities to improve training or processes. Contribute to qualitative and quantitative guides for role performance.
- Support in people and performance data and development of KPI’s, competencies.
- Partner with Operations Managers and site leadership to implement new standards and reinforce existing ones.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of frontline Pantry roles and be prepared to work alongside teams during training, launches, transitions, and operational resets.
- Capture learnings from the field and use them to continuously improve SOPs and training programs.
Launches & Cross-Functional Support
- Support new client launches of offerings and sites. Participate in hands on launch and training of teams for new locations and programs.
- Ensure new teams are trained on operational procedures, service expectations, equipment, food safety, and client-specific requirements before and during launch.
- Partner with Pantry and Catering leadership, People Operations, Culinary, Client Experience, and other teams to support effective training and implementation of operational processes.
- Facilitate operational training and process rollouts across Just Fare when appropriate. Including mandatory and role required training for the people team.
- Maintains training schedule and records. Supports the people team to track and ensure certifications for all assigned team members are in compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in food service, hospitality, retail, workplace services, or other hands-on operations environments.
- Experience training and coaching frontline employees and managers.
- Strong operational instincts and the ability to understand how work is actually performed in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to create clear SOPs, training materials, checklists, and operational documentation.
- Experience with multi-site or multi-unit operations strongly preferred.
- Strong facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to turn complex or inconsistent processes into clear, repeatable systems.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, service standards, and operational controls preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and operational tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between client locations.
- Experience supporting new location openings or operational launches preferred.
Schedule
Just Fare operates across a wide range of hours based on client needs. This role requires a highly flexible schedule, including early mornings, daytime hours, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Because this position is responsible for hands-on training, launches, and operational support, work hours will frequently align with the schedules of the teams being trained and may vary significantly from week to week.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel between client locations, National & International. The position will also require periodic overnight and multi-day travel to Just Fare markets outside the Bay Area for new launches, training, and operational support.
Candidates should be comfortable working across varying schedules and locations rather than a traditional Monday–Friday office schedule.
Compensation & Benefits
- $75,000-80,000 salary DOE. Competitive wages in an equitable tiered pay structure for all positions. Non-Negotiable.
