Description

 

The Director of Day Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight for Reach, Inc.’s Community-Based Day Services (CBDS) and Employment Services. The Director is responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality, person-centered programs that promote Employment First, self-determination, independence, meaningful community participation, individual choice, and personal growth

The Director leads the CBDS and Employment teams in creating innovative and enriching opportunities that support each individual in achieving their personal, employment, social, and life goals. The Director takes a hands-on leadership approach, working collaboratively with staff, individuals, families, employers, community partners, DDS, and other stakeholders. 

The Director is responsible for ensuring that programs operate in accordance with Reach, Inc. policies and procedures, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations, licensing and certification standards, contractual requirements, and established budget expectations. 

The Director promotes a culture of respect, accountability, continuous learning, creativity, and empowerment, ensuring that individuals receiving services are valued as active members of their communities and are supported to live meaningful and self-directed lives. 

 Values: Program Directors are responsible for exhibiting and displaying the agency’s mission, values, and basic philosophy of individual validation and empowerment through respectful interaction. They must ensure that program staff adhere to agency policies and procedures and DDS regulations 

Requirements

 

Responsibilities: 

All responsibilities are under the direction, supervision, and in conjunction with the Clinical Director and President. 

  1. Effectively lead staff team through supervision and empowerment, creating an atmosphere of continuous learning, support, and accountability. 
  2. Ensure the quality of care for all individuals  
  3. Oversee Hiring, training, and supervision of staff. Ongoing leadership using a team approach of empowerment and learning  
  4. Oversee staff records and documentation, including:  
  5. Supervision/re-training issues  
  6. Evaluations  
  7. Time accrued and/or used (re: vacation, sick days)  
  8. Trainings  
  9. Verify individuals’ records, including daily notes and data, confidential books, and employment documentation, are accurate, current, organized, and maintained according to regulations and agency policy. Medication/medical tracking, as well as program communication log in an orderly fashion and in compliance with DDS Licensure and Certification and REACH, Inc.’s specifications. Conduct regular reviews to identify deficiencies and ensure timely correction.  
  10. Attends and provides input into Directors’ Meetings or ensures program representation.  
  11. Participate in PBS committees and development, implementation, and oversight of PBS techniques. 
  12. Represents their program and/or individuals when collaborating with the Department of Developmental Disabilities and other state agencies and interfacing with providers, including, but not limited to, Quality Assurance and Licensing and Service Coordinators 
  13. Develop all aspects of individuals’ ISP documentation and assessments. Ensure all programs. Protocols and goals are implemented as specified in this plan. Utilize the HCSIS state system as well as create data sheets and tracking systems; complete the internal ISP checklist. Ensure new individuals are assessed and that an ISP is scheduled within 45 days.  
  14. Coordination and communication of ISP meetings held at Reach, including securing meeting spaces, communication to those attending, and the Reach office specialist.  
  15. Responsible for state billing for all individuals monthly. Monitors program expenditures and resources in accordance with established budgets. Ensures resources are aligned with program needs, and concerns are communicated to Clinical Director/President.  
  16. Ensures that program staff adhere to program and agency’s policies and procedures and DDS regulations  
  17. Screens referrals for Individual vacancies; ensures DDS regulations are followed.  
  18. Establishes and maintains ongoing family contact 
  19. Supervises the developing, organizing, and implementation of enrichment support for group and individual activities/programs which serve to expand and normalize the lives of individuals and foster greater degrees of independence, active community engagement, volunteer opportunities, and competitive employment.  
  20. Supervise Employment Supports Specialist to ensure education is completed for job readiness skills and ongoing skill development. All data, including daily and monthly progress notes and communication with employers, is documented.  
  21. Provides for a clean, safe day/work like environment for the Individuals. Ensure all maintenance requests are submitted and addressed.   
  22. Ensure all vehicles are clean and safe; coordinates all vehicle maintenance and repairs.  
  23. Forwards all required materials to DDS personnel to meet their required timelines.  
  24. Performs other related work duties as needed or as assigned by the Clinical Director or President   

Qualifications 

  • BA or BS in Human Service or related field discipline preferred OR 6 years’ experience in related field.  
  • Minimum of 3 years of increasingly more responsible positions with a human service agency 
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must possess a working knowledge of ISP process and Survey & Certification standards. 
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office, video conferencing and the internet  
  • Manages multiple priorities and resolves issues in a calm and pro-active manner 
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness 
  • Valid Driver’s License 
  • Successful completion of all state and agency mandated trainings including Medication Administration, CPR, First Aid 
  • Must be willing to authorize a Criminal History Background Check (CORI), and Fingerprinting check through National Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and release of information concerning allegations from Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC), Department of Developmental Services (DDS), and other agencies

Language Skills 

Must be fluent in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively with individuals under supervision, employees of the organization, families, and members of the community.

  • The President may waive these requirements.  
  • This position corresponds with UFR Title description 102 – Program Director 
  • Hours may be altered to meet the needs of the program.  Ten calendar days’ notice is given.  
Salary Description
Starting at $58,760.00 annually
