Senior Staff Accountant
Description

Summary

Perform complex accounting assignments, reviews accounts payable invoices batches and general ledger reconciliations. Responsible for special project analysis. Act as resource for department staff by providing guidance, direction and training.  


Essential Functions       

25% 1. Involved in preparation of monthly financial statements for the board. Posting month end journal entries into the general ledger. Researching and resolving discrepancies. Develop, maintain and distribute ad hoc reports and financial models as needed.


25% 2. Performs complex account reconciliations to include credit union investment purchases and transactions. Investigates discrepancies within an account. Completes a variety of daily balancing tasks. Working with supervisor and peers to implement process improvements to increase efficiencies. 


20% 3. Responsible for special projects within the department. Partners with other departments on special projects such as indirect lending, credit card and debit card programs, mortgages etc. Keeps supervisor informed of any problems or concerns.


20% 4. Act as resource for department staff and internal members and assist in resolving issues.  


Percent Non-essential Functions

10% 1. Other duties as assigned. May perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks including typing, filing, computer input & answering the telephone.


Expectations

  1. Management is provided with useful and informative reports and data. Ensure the CU's financial position is accurately stated.
  2. External reports, records, and tax documents are accurate and filed timely.
  3. Accounting methodologies as well as operational procedures are reviewed regularly and modified as needed. 
  4. Accounting is in compliance with NCUA and GAAP guidelines. Procedures are in compliance with published FFCU policies and procedures.   
  5. Positive business relations with internal and external auditors, government officials, and trade professionals.
  6. Strong communication and effective working relations with other departments and direct reports.  
Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required or 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree.

Experience: 5 years relevant/equivalent experience. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong understanding of basic & intermediate accounting principles. Stronganalytical & problem-solving skill sets. Proficiency w/ Excel required high attention to detail. The ability to work in a changing environment & communicate effectively at all levels. 

Salary Description
$60,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year
