Are you someone who can comfortably shift from rooming patients and supporting a provider to helping at the front desk, answering phones, or scheduling appointments?
HealthFirst Family Care Center is looking for a Patient Service Representative / Medical Assistant to join our team in a unique dual role that combines clinical and administrative responsibilities.
This position will primarily work as a Medical Assistant when supporting a part-time provider during scheduled patient care days. When the provider is not in the office, you'll shift gears and support our Patient Services team with front desk and administrative responsibilities.
We're looking for someone who likes variety, works well as part of a team, and can move comfortably between the clinical and administrative sides of a busy health center.
What you'll do:
- Room patients, obtain vitals and histories, and prepare patients for their visits
- Assist the provider with examinations, procedures, screenings, and other clinical needs
- Perform clinical functions such as phlebotomy, injections, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and other duties within scope
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record
- Welcome and check patients in and out
- Answer phones and route patient messages appropriately
- Schedule and coordinate appointments
- Verify patient demographic, insurance, and registration information
- Assist patients with questions and routine requests
- Help keep patient flow moving smoothly throughout the health center
- Shift between clinical and administrative responsibilities as provider schedules and operational needs change
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Are a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Have current BLS certification
- Are comfortable with both patient care and customer service
- Can change gears without losing your cool when priorities shift
- Are organized, accurate, and comfortable juggling competing demands
- Communicate well with patients, providers, and coworkers
- Enjoy variety and don't necessarily want to do the exact same thing every day
- See “that's not my job” as pretty much the opposite of how a good team works
Why this role is different
This isn't a traditional MA position where you'll spend every day doing the same clinical workflow, and it isn't a traditional front-desk position either. It's a role for someone who enjoys both sides of healthcare and has the agility to move between them.
When your provider needs you, you're their MA. When they don't, you're part of the team keeping the rest of the health center running smoothly.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Current Basic Life Support certification
