Cochise MTS LLC is seeking an experienced U.S. Army 91X40 Track Vehicle Repairer/Recovery Vehicle Operator to serve as a M1 Abrams Track Vehicle Repairer/Recovery Vehicle Operator Advisor (TVRRV1) supporting the Taiwan M1A2T Abrams Technical Assistance Field Team.

The TVRRV1 serves as a senior M1 Abrams maintenance and recovery subject matter expert, providing technical advice, hands-on instruction, training, and mentorship to Taiwan Army personnel.

The primary focus of this position is to develop Taiwan Army proficiency in the repair, recovery, and safe transportation of M1A2T Abrams tracked vehicles while helping establish sustainable maintenance and recovery capabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in M1 Abrams repair and recovery operations.
  • Train and mentor Taiwan Army maintenance and recovery personnel using U.S. Army-based maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in M1 Abrams tracked vehicle maintenance, repair, and recovery.
  • Train Taiwan Army personnel in proper and safe vehicle recovery procedures.
  • Provide instruction on the safe transportation of recovered M1A2T Abrams equipment.
  • Assist Taiwan Army personnel in developing proficiency in applicable 10-, 20-, and 30-level maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical assistance with troubleshooting, fault identification, maintenance, repair, and recovery operations.
  • Demonstrate proper M1 Abrams maintenance and recovery techniques.
  • Mentor Taiwan Army personnel in establishing sustainable maintenance and recovery procedures.
  • Identify maintenance deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support practical exercises, demonstrations, evaluations, and hands-on training.
  • Provide technical advice concerning M1A2T equipment condition, maintenance requirements, and recovery considerations.
  • Coordinate assigned training activities with the Site Lead and other M1A2T instructors.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive technical feedback.
  • Assist in developing Taiwan Army capability to independently maintain and recover M1A2T equipment.
  • Support individual and collective training requirements as directed by program leadership.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with Taiwan Army personnel, U.S. Government representatives, program leadership, and other contractor personnel.
  • Comply with all applicable safety, security, environmental, technical, and site requirements.

The broader training mission includes supporting Taiwan Army M1A2T and Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) maintenance formations through applicable 10-, 20-, and 30-level maintenance activities. The recovery team specifically focuses on the recovery and safe transportation of tracked equipment.

Requirements

 

Required Military Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a U.S. Army MOS 91X.
  • Experience must have been obtained in a U.S. Army M1 Abrams Battalion or Brigade.
  • Demonstrated experience performing M1 Abrams repair and recovery operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of M1 Abrams tracked vehicle maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a technical subject matter expert and instructor.
  • Ability to train, advise, mentor, and assist foreign military personnel.

Required Certification

  • H8 Certification – REQUIRED.

Security Clearance

  • SECRET security clearance required prior to deployment.
  • Interim SECRET clearance is acceptable prior to deployment.
  • Must maintain required security eligibility throughout the assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • U.S. Army Rough Terrain Container Handler (RTCH) certification.
  • U.S. Army HVAC repair experience.
  • U.S. Army Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) certification.
  • U.S. Army Environmental Compliance Office certification.
  • Additional M1 Abrams recovery and heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience training or mentoring foreign military personnel.
  • Previous OCONUS military advisory or technical assistance experience.
  • Previous U.S. Army SATMO or TAFT experience.

Preferred qualifications do not substitute for the required 91X/M1 Abrams experience or H8 certification.

LOCATION & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primary Duty Location:
Armor Training Center (ATC)
Hukou, Taiwan

The position may require travel to alternate locations throughout Taiwan to support training activities. Travel outside the primary 50-mile performance area may be required when authorized.

The normal work schedule will generally align with the Taiwan Government work schedule and is expected to remain within a 40-hour work week, unless otherwise authorized.

This position involves working in an OCONUS military training environment and may require physically demanding maintenance, recovery, and training activities.

OCONUS DEPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Selected candidates must be capable of completing all required deployment preparation and must be able to meet applicable U.S. Government and theater requirements, including:

  • Valid passport.
  • Applicable Taiwan visa requirements.
  • Country clearance requirements.
  • International Driver's Permit (IDP), if required.
  • Theater-specific training.
  • Security processing.
  • Medical screening.
  • Required immunizations.
  • FACT training.
  • SATTOC training.
  • Other applicable U.S. Government and theater requirements.

Personnel must be prepared to complete all required pre-deployment activities and arrive in-country within the designated reporting timeline.

FACT and SATTOC are mandatory components of deployment preparation for applicable personnel.

MEDICAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an OCONUS assignment that may involve physically demanding maintenance, recovery, and training activities.

Selected personnel must meet applicable deployment medical requirements, including physician certification of fitness for deployment and the ability to perform assigned duties under potentially austere, physically demanding, and stressful conditions.

Required physical examinations and medical documentation must be completed prior to deployment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a senior U.S. Army 91X M1 Abrams maintainer with extensive operational Army experience and demonstrated expertise in vehicle repair and recovery.

The successful candidate will be able to apply their technical M1 Abrams experience while effectively teaching, mentoring, advising, and developing Taiwan Army maintenance and recovery personnel.
