General Job Summary
The Commercial Lines Producer is responsible for soliciting, evaluating, and obtaining new insurance clients along with rounding and retaining current customers. Follow up with customers to ensure appropriate supporting documentation has been obtained and that customer receives the correct coverage contracted for.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Present marketing plan including niche markets he plans on seeking out along with his plans to connect with prospective clients through the sale.
- Keep a pipeline excel sheet provided by employer that will be reviewed weekly.
- Meet with Carrier Field Reps to get comfortable with their markets and processes.
- Review pipeline, progress and discuss plan for the week that employee has prepared for the pipeline meetings. Meetings take place every Monday morning.
- Determine niche markets from list of companies to determine best marketing strategy and solicit new prospective customers
- Determine customer needs & all other required information to make an informed decision
- Quote the risk with multiple markets to determine best coverage and price
- Follow up with underwriter and customer through quoting process
- Log all activities of the sale in management system
- Maintain records, reports, and files as applicable
- Requote personal line renewals when they renew over agency-set amount
Other Job Functions
- Train other employees as needed on new products, companies, or approved changes
- Maintain required disclosure postings and licensing (continuing education, etc.)
- Attend all required meetings/trainings
- Answer telephones as needed
- All other duties as assigned by management
Working Environment
Primary working environment is within an indoor climate-controlled office space. Employee may be subject to florescent lighting, dust, and other normal indoor-allergens. Employee will work in close proximity of coworkers and occasionally independently in quiet environments. Employee will interact with customers in person & via telephone. Some minor travel may be required
Education, Training and Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 5 years previous insurance experience preferred
- Experience in business to business sales will be considered in lieu of insurance experience.
- Current Insurance License in required lines such as Property & Casualty License preferred

Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds
- Extended periods of sitting (at computer desk)
- Complete repetitive tasks (including operation of computer mouse/keyboard)
- Ability and means to travel to on a flexible schedule as needed.
- May be exposed to extended periods of interaction with other (listening/talking/taking notes)
The salary range for this role takes into consideration a wide range of factors including but not limited to the duties of the role, experience, location, and certificates and/or education. The target salary range for this position is between $50,000-$65,000 per year plus commissions earned.
