Oneida ESC Group delivers full-service facility and infrastructure engineering design, environmental science, construction management, and munitions response services worldwide, with over 25 years of successful project performance. OTIE has an opening for a Part Time Senior Geologist/Hydrogeologist (Office or Remote; Hybrid preferred) to provide a wide range of project support for a diversity of projects and clients nationwide.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical lead and/or technical/project manager supporting large and complex environmental project sites involving soil and groundwater remediation in California and nationwide.
- As technical lead: develop conceptual site models; formulate problem statements and project objectives; develop site characterization plans, consult on remedial designs/optimization, ensure data sufficiency and quality for technical evaluations; perform data evaluations including analytical, mathematical, and modeling approaches; prepare technical reports.
- As project/technical manager, provide leadership and oversight of planning, project team activities and progress, deliverable quality, cost estimating, and cost and schedule control.
- Interact with internal and external customers on technical, regulatory, and project scope/schedule/budget.
- Provide expert-level consulting and problem-solving with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
- Perform technical reviews, support regulatory oversight under CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, State of California regulations.
- Foster collaborative and productive work relationships including mentoring and training of junior and mid-level staff, organize and coordinate technical teams comprised of diverse disciplines, and catalyze a positive, collaborative, and productive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 20+ years of experience in environmental site characterization and remediation under CERCLA and state regulatory frameworks.
- California state certification/licensing as a PG is required.
- Experience with managing and providing technical oversight of large-scale and complex environmental sites involving hazardous and mixed wastes, free-phase product, etc.
- Knowledgeable of fate and transport processes of VOCs including chlorinated solvents, petroleum compounds, metals, radioactive, and emerging contaminants in unconsolidated and bedrock geologic settings.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of groundwater, soil, and soil vapor characterization and remedial techniques and technologies.
- Experience and familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, SDWA and various DoD branch (i.e., USACE, Navy, U.S. Air Force) regulations and reporting requirements a plus.
- Experience in reviewing and editing technical writing and regulatory reports.
- Previous involvement in preparing or contributing to project proposals and managing project budgets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Experienced working under a variety of government and private customer contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in environmental science or related
- Professional Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG)
- Experience with investigating soil and groundwater contaminated with PFAS/PFOA compounds.
