Summary

This is an exciting opportunity in one of the largest volunteer programs in the city with over 6,000 volunteers annually. The Volunteer Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Volunteer Program Manager to ensure a consistent top-notch volunteer experience across the organization. 


The Volunteer Program Coordinator will be a part of a multi-site volunteer program including four retail locations, several homebuilding construction sites, the volunteer-based business engagement program, and office volunteer needs. 


The ideal candidate has a passion for the volunteer spirit, a positive disposition, and thrives on building collaborative relationships with your co-workers and volunteers. 


This is a full-time, non-exempt position, reporting to the Volunteer Program Manager.



Compensation

  • $17.00 - $21.29/hour, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

  • Respond to volunteer inquiries in a timely manner and lead the effort to improve volunteer retention and recruitment by maintaining a close connection to each build site and store location
  • Implement volunteer onboarding and training processes
  • Support on location staff in planning volunteer appreciation events, implementing the volunteer incentive/recognition program and using creative approaches to surprise and delight our volunteers
  • Nurture relationships with community partners such as youth employment programs, senior employment programs, vocational rehab, court systems, schools, churches, businesses, etc.
  • Manage/review volunteer background checks and determine eligibility
  • Prepare reports:  Volunteer hours, individual hour achievements, summaries by program, initiative, etc. as directed by VPM
  • Provide volunteer content to monthly affiliate Enews and ReStore Enews
  • Prepare volunteer spotlights for social media
  • Conduct volunteer evaluations including user experience surveys online and in person
  • Assist VPM in training on location staff in utilizing Get Connected Platform and Sterling Volunteers
  • Assist/support VPM in engaging staff in volunteer retention efforts


Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED
  • 2+ years of experience working with volunteers in the non-profit industry
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving experience
  • Experience working with volunteer management software and data management


Schedule

  • 40 hours a week, will include evenings and weekends at times
