Operations Support Specialist
Description

Cogent Security LLC is seeking energetic, adaptive professionals who enjoy detailed

organization and possess excellent communication skills. 


Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm to provide executive support to the Office of Defense Nuclear Security (DNS) within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a point of contact for administrative and correspondence related matters for DNS
  • Participates in and contributes to DNS internal and external communication processes including speeches, presentations, development and maintenance of DNS websites, and similar activities, working with NNSA External Affairs regarding DNS related publicity and external communications
  • Coordinates or develops accurate, timely, properly tracked, staffed, reviewed, and approved responses to requests for information from other internal stakeholders; program offices; congressional offices; local, state, county, and national public officials; and other government agencies
  • Responsible for tracking internal and external correspondence to ensure DNS meets deadlines
  • Contributes to communication consistent with NNSA policy that reflects the position of DNS senior management
  • Facilitates the development of briefing materials and ensures the COS, Associate Administrator, and Deputy Associate Administrator are prepared for meetings and briefings
  • Works closely with COS, subject matter experts, administrative personnel, and technical writer(s) to ensure documents meet appropriate standards. Serves as strategic advisor to COS
  • Maintains awareness of issues which may impact the Program or Functional Office, inform COS of anticipated problems, and suggests approaches to address
  • Creates and maintains cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success
  • Research, benchmarks, analyzes data, and formulates findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Participates in COS meetings to represent the COS and provides information, as applicable, to DNS leadership team
  • Presents well-organized, supportable, and clearly expressed data in written and oral form
  • Participates as needed in discussions regarding decisions and problems relating to DNS activities. Represents the COS in meetings relating to program activities
  • Analyzes communications regarding controversial, politically sensitive, complex, or far-reaching matters to assure conformance with executive policy
  • Gathers background information, ascertains various positions on issues raised, and clarifies policy questions to advise COS. Assists COS to implement actions designed to improve DNS operations or resources; participates in implementation of DNS mission policies and procedures in coordination with DNS Office Directors
  • Assists in the preparation of reports and briefings concerning DNS problem areas and proposed solutions
  • Makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal management systems and/or DNS organizational productivity
  • Provides quantitative analysis on the effectiveness of DNS programs in meeting established goals and objectives
  • Assists with coordination of formal recognition programs, such as the annual security awards program, in conjunction with the Department level program and internal special acts and services awards, as well as awards to be presented in conjunction with reassignments and retirements
  • Ensures these programs are completed in a timely manner
Requirements

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of six years professional experience interacting with federal staff
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and tech editing skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint 
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, time-management, and interpersonal skills
  • Active DOE Q or DOD Top Secret security clearance

Position Location: 

Client site in Washington, DC (possibility of telework one day per week)


Salary Range: 

$100,000-120,000 Annually
