Aspire General Insurance is seeking an experienced Director of Product Management to lead the strategic growth, profitability, and product management initiatives for our California personal auto insurance business. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for developing and executing product strategies that drive profitable growth, enhance market competitiveness, and support Aspire's long-term business objectives.


The Director of Product Management- California will lead a team of Product Managers and Analysts while partnering closely with Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance, Business Intelligence, IT, Agency Operations, and Executive Leadership. This position plays a critical role in identifying opportunities, improving profitability, guiding product filings, developing new capabilities, and leveraging analytics to inform business decisions.


This leader must be capable of managing large and complex states, leading multiple initiatives simultaneously, and developing innovative solutions that support both operational excellence and sustained growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic growth, profitability, and product management efforts across Aspire's insurance portfolio.
  • Manage and develop a team of Product Managers and Analysts.
  • Analyze complex business challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors and data sources.
  • Deliver critical analytical insights, research, performance reporting, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee statistical analysis and data mining initiatives to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Partner with IT to develop scalable reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Monitor product performance in coordination with Actuarial, Loss Analytics, and Performance Analytics teams.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute product strategies designed to improve profitability and market share.
  • Evaluate marketplace trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
  • Provide technical, analytical, and strategic leadership for cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Lead data-driven approaches to product, pricing, underwriting, and process enhancements.
  • Oversee product filings, including class, rate, and form filings, in partnership with Actuarial teams.
  • Drive automation initiatives using Microsoft technologies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support advanced data analysis, product development, and business process improvements.
  • Maintain and enhance departmental data and databases.
  • Oversee testing and quality assurance activities related to data warehouse and business intelligence applications.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure continued product compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Product Management experience, including experience managing Product Managers and/or Analysts.
  • Advanced knowledge of the personal insurance business, including; Insurance products and coverages, Claims, Underwriting, Distribution channels, Sales and business operations
  • Leadership, innovation, and initiative-driven mindset.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments and lead high-performing teams.

Advanced proficiency in:

  • Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, SQL
  • Property & Casualty insurance experience, including working directly with Departments of Insurance.
  • Experience with business process analysis, data analysis, and data profiling.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to solve practical business problems and interpret complex written, oral, diagrammatic, and scheduled instructions.
  • Ability to succeed within a technology-focused, paperless environment.
  • Experience launching new states, insurance programs, or market expansions.
  • Leadership & Relationship Management

Working Conditions

  • Ability to sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional stooping, reaching, standing, and climbing of small step ladders.
