Position Summary 

The SharePoint Developer Subject Matter Expert (SME) will play a critical role in supporting the Department of the Interior's mission by providing expertise in SharePoint development and administration. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, and maintain SharePoint solutions that enhance collaboration, streamline processes, and improve information management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • SharePoint Development and Customization: Design, develop, and customize SharePoint sites, web parts, workflows, and solutions to meet specific business requirements. Implement and maintain SharePoint-based applications, ensuring optimal performance and usability.
  • Information Architecture: Provide expertise in designing and maintaining the information architecture of SharePoint sites, ensuring effective content organization, navigation, and search functionality.
  • Integration and Data Migration: Integrate SharePoint with other enterprise systems and third-party applications, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability. Plan and execute data migration efforts, ensuring data integrity and continuity.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide technical guidance and training to end-users, fostering adoption and proficiency.
  • Governance and Security: Establish and enforce governance policies and best practices for SharePoint usage. Ensure compliance with security standards and protocols, and implement access controls and permissions.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve technical issues related to SharePoint, providing timely support to end-users. Conduct system diagnostics and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a SharePoint Developer, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of SharePoint development, including proficiency in SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server.
  • Strong expertise in SharePoint customization using tools such as SharePoint Designer, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint integration with Microsoft 365 suite and other enterprise systems.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint administration, including site collection management, permissions, and user/group management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Description
$110,000 to $130,000
