Job Summary

RapidFire Safety & Security is seeking a qualified Fire Extinguisher & Kitchen Hood Inspection Technician to join our El Paso team. This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining portable fire extinguishers and commercial kitchen fire suppression systems in accordance with Texas state regulations, NFPA standards, and company procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the required Texas State Fire Marshal licensing and certifications necessary to perform fire extinguisher inspections and kitchen hood suppression system inspections and servicing.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and service of portable      fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA 10 and Texas regulations.
  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and service of commercial      kitchen fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA 17A, NFPA 96,      manufacturer requirements, and Texas regulations.
  • Conduct system assessments and identify deficiencies or code      compliance issues.
  • Repair and replace defective components as needed.
  • Complete testing and recharge operations when licensed and      authorized.
  • Accurately document inspections, deficiencies, repairs, and customer      recommendations.
  • Maintain inspection reports and service records using company      software and mobile applications.
  • Coordinate scheduling and service activities with dispatch and      management.
  • Communicate inspection results and corrective actions to customers      in a professional manner.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe working      condition.
  • Respond to customer service requests and emergency service calls as      needed.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
  • Stay current on NFPA standards, Texas licensing requirements, and      industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, work overhead, and      perform physical tasks associated with inspections and servicing.

Licensing & Certifications

Candidate must possess, or be able to obtain, the applicable licenses required by the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office, including:

  • Texas Portable Fire Extinguisher License (required).
  • Texas Kitchen Hood / Fixed Fire Suppression System License      (required).
  • Any applicable technician registrations or endorsements required by      the Texas State Fire Marshal for inspection, maintenance, recharge, or      installation activities.
  • Current industry certifications are preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience inspecting and servicing portable fire      extinguishers.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience inspecting and servicing restaurant      kitchen hood suppression systems.
  • Familiarity with Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Range Guard, Kidde, Amerex, and      other suppression system manufacturers.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 10, NFPA 17A, and NFPA 96 standards.
  • Experience identifying code deficiencies and recommending corrective      actions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret inspection reports, manuals, and code      requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple service calls and priorities.
  • Proficiency with tablets, mobile applications, and electronic      reporting systems.
