Electrical Engineer III (hybrid)
Description

Why OKSI?:

  • See your work fielded fast. Get hands-on with hardware and watch it deployed to customers within months, not years.
  • Build next-generation defense technology. Our engineering work protects warfighters, reduces collateral damage, and safeguards civilians.
  • Speed and Accuracy We move quickly, and you'll see your work through from concept to deployment — not just one slice of the pipeline; no process bottlenecks we move with speed and agility !
  • Hybrid schedule Working at OKSI provides you with a unique opportunity to see fruition of your work while still having a real work-life balance with our hybrid schedule options.
  • Professional Growth . OKSI is expanding and growing, which means faster-than-typical opportunities to advance your career.

What You'll Do

You'll take ownership of electrical design efforts for ruggedized, AI-integrated electronics used in defense and environmental science platforms, and mentor early-career engineers as you go.

  • Lead design of mixed-signal PCBs, embedded controllers, and custom sensor interfaces, and see them through to fielded hardware
  • Architect low-power, high-reliability electronics for rugged, space-constrained platforms; set the electrical requirements and prove them out against functional, thermal, and EMI/EMC targets
  • Integrate embedded processors, FPGAs, sensors, and power subsystems, working directly with software teams on hardware and firmware communication
  • Own electrical design workstreams end to end, from requirements through release, and guide junior engineers and interns along the way
  • Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and trade studies as a key technical voice
  • Build test procedures and lead lab validation (thermal, vibration, environmental), then run root cause analysis and corrective action when something breaks
  • Partner with vendors on PCB fabrication, assembly, and design for manufacturability, and manage obsolescence and lifecycle planning
Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, plus 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Strong working knowledge of low-power design, sensor integration, and signal conditioning
  • Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461, IPC-610, ISO, ITAR/EAR)
  • Ability to manage engineering tasks independently and drive results across multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in lab testing, debugging, and root cause analysis using industry-standard tools
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset

Bonus Points

  • Background in automotive, EV, AV, aerospace, or space
  • Experience with guidance and navigation tech, or inertial/magnetic sensors
  • Optics or multispectral digital imaging systems
  • MIL-STD or DO-160 EMC design and test experience
  • Programmable logic design, or signal/power integrity design
  • Experience taking a product into full production and shipping at scale
  • Low-level firmware experience for hardware bring-up and testing

Compensation and Benefits

  • $105,000 to $143,000 annually. New hires typically start between the range minimum and midpoint depending on qualifications and role budget.
  • Medical, dental, and vision fully paid by OKSI for the employee
  • Three weeks vacation
  • Automatic 401(k) contribution: 5% of earned wages, no matching required
  • Educational assistance
  • Hybrid schedule - Relocation Assistance available!
