About the Job
We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator for our internal IT department. This position is fully remote with limited travel as needed. The day-to-day work will vary with an emphasis on infrastructure and IT system support and management. This role offers opportunities to lead projects, collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues and staff, communicate with clients and vendors, and training to advance your IT skills and career.
This position may be remote, hybrid, or in-office depending on the candidate’s location and business needs, and may require occasional travel.
Responsibilities
As an Information Technology Systems Administrator your job functions will include, but not be limited to:
- Configure, support, and maintain computer systems, servers, and networks
- Assist with the management of user accounts, groups, permissions, and policies/GPOs
- Maintain data protection including backups, DR, AI, compliance, and encryption
- Ensure cybersecurity protections are maintained and continually optimized
- Deploy, maintain, and optimize automation mechanisms where possible
- Participate in system, network, and cybersecurity monitoring, alerting and response
- Develop, refine, and train team members on policies, processes, and procedures
- Develop and maintain system and operational documentation
- Provide escalation support for complex end user requests
- Assist with end user support when needed
- Offer guidance and mentorship to early career team members
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, information technology, computer science, or a similar field.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in IT user and systems support
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting Windows 10/11 and Windows Server systems
- Experience working in Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Entra ID, and Exchange
- Intermediate understanding and experience with cybersecurity frameworks and tools
- Intermediate understanding of networking fundamentals including firewalls
- Experience working within project management frameworks including Agile
- A continuous improvement mindset
- Pertinent IT certifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A desire to grow both intellectually and professionally
- Strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
Compensation is commensurate with experience and internal equity, within the listed range. An employee’s total compensation package includes annual salary; company-subsidized (employee and family) medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) participation with a company match of 1% to 4% of annual compensation; company-paid life and short- and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave (10 days), paid vacation (10 days), paid holidays (9 days) per year, and the potential for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance. Paid time off will be prorated to reflect part-time scheduled hours, if applicable.
