The General Manager of Hardywood’s Richmond Taproom & Kitchen is a new role created after the total renovation of the company’s 19,000 sf downtown headquarters at 2410 Ownby Lane, complete with an outdoor beer garden and stage, an upgraded live music/event venue, an upgraded brewhouse space, and a pizza kitchen. With the exception of brewery operations and office management, the General Manager will oversee all operations of the taproom, event venue, and kitchen. Direct reports will include Beer Captains (on duty managers). This role will work alongside the Kitchen Manager to provide an exceptional customer experience, and will report to the Taproom Director, who oversees taproom operations at Hardywood’s Richmond and West Creek facilities. Collaborators will include the Events Director, Hardywood’s co-founders, and award winning chef, Joe Sparatta.
Participates in the hiring and training of taproom staff.
Organizes and oversees taproom staff schedules.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Oversees taproom operations in concert with Kitchen Manager, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
Oversees taproom inventory and communication with BOH to ensure quality and quantity of beverages are maintained.
Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the restaurant dining and taproom experience.
Handles customer complaints, resolving issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner.
Ensures compliance with alcoholic beverage regulations.
Manages inventory and purchases food and beverage supplies and completes monthly reporting in inventory control software.
Conducts daily inspection of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance and coordinates the repairs with the Maintenance department.
Collaborates with kitchen staff and concept chef to ensure food menu items have appropriate beer pairings.
Collaborates with Taproom Director & Event Director for all special events and programs as needed.
Collaborates with the marketing department to ensure taproom activities and upcoming events are properly promoted via social media and on-site signage.
Ensure POS system and related software are optimized to simplify on-site ordering, and to maximize opportunities for merchandise and to-go sales.
Maintains and tracks sales records in POS System.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous restaurant and taproom experience required; management experience preferred.
Cicerone® Certification training program or similar beer/beverage educational program highly recommended.
Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant and taproom quickly.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
