National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer an exempt, full-time position to a candidate who will coordinate solicitations and contracting activities for purchasing equipment and services to carry out NFF’s forest conservation, wildfire resilience, land and watershed restoration, and recreation projects.


About the NFF: As the official national partner to the US Forest Service (USFS), the National Forest Foundation was chartered by Congress in 1990. Today, the NFF advances forest resiliency, healthy watersheds and wildlife habitat, and recreation for all by working with communities and organizations across the country. The Foundation has grown significantly in the last few years in programmatic impact, revenue and support, and organizational capacity. NFF leads with impact, deploying roughly 90% of its expenses towards projects and programs across the country’s 193-million-acre National Forest System. Position Function: The Contracts and Procurement Coordinator reports to the Contracts and Procurement Attorney and works closely with field program staff to coordinate and support the procurement of services and equipment for field projects in the areas of forest conservation efforts, increasing wildfire resilience, land and watershed restoration, and improving recreation infrastructure. This position functions under a moderate level of supervision. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with NFF contracting and procurement policies, funding terms and conditions, and 2 CFR 200 throughout the procurement and contract lifecycle. This position works closely with field program staff to develop sourcing strategies, draft and publish solicitations[JJ2.1]; reviews contracts and supporting documentation submitted for compliance with requirements; handles contract approvals and signature workflows; and ensures that contract data is correctly documented and maintained. 


Position Duties and Responsibilities: The Contracts and Procurement Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Work with field staff to develop sourcing strategies for equipment and services and assist in the development and review of solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, etc.), ensuring compliance with applicable procurement standards, audit and reporting requirements.
  • Review requests for new contracts and amendments, including reviewing supporting documentation and terms and conditions for compliance with applicable NFF requirements and standard terms and conditions.
  • Draft revisions to contracts and amendments to ensure alignment with NFF standards and lead negotiations in partnership with field staff.
  • Proactively engage field staff, Contracts and Procurement Attorney, and other stakeholders around any sourcing and contract matters that require additional review and consideration.
  • Work with the Contracts and Procurement team to update and maintain contract and solicitation templates.
  • Serve as a partner, mentor, and liaison, to field staff throughout the procurement and contracting process.


Education and Qualifications: NFF expects the Contracts and Procurement Coordinator to possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional certification, and at least three years of experience in contract administration and compliance, contract management, procurement and acquisition, or related fields.
  • Paralegal certificate or legal contract experience a plus.
  • Experience with forestry, construction, recreation infrastructure, or habitat improvement projects a plus. 
  • Knowledge of natural resource issues and/or the USDA Forest Service preferred. 


Abilities and Skills: The Contracts and Procurement Coordinator is expected to possess the following proven abilities and skills:

  • A strong attention to detail and commitment to process.
  • Knowledge and comfort with contracting and procurement using federal and nonfederal funds.
  • Meaningful experience with 2 CFR 200, FAR, or other similar/related regulations.
  • A working understanding of risk management through financial security and insurance.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize or translate technical requirements into lay terminology.
  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to understand the needs of field program staff and balance those with NFF policies and funding agreement requirements.
  • Strong customer service, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • A good sense of humor and ability to work well under tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner through excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft 365; experience working with Microsoft Dynamics a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight and support.
  • Willingness to be available to train, mentor, or assist program staff.


Location: The location for this position is flexible throughout the US. This position is a remote/work from home position and requires reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.


Compensation: NFF offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our total rewards strategy. The starting salary range for this position is $75,000 to $86.250, with the ability to grow to $97,500 based on performance outcomes over time and assessed annually. NFF monitors mandated state minimum wage updates. Individual state conditions will be honored during the offer process.
