We are seeking a Environmental Field Technician to support environmental field activities in Fairchild, WA. This role involves conducting fieldwork, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, data collection, preparing field instruments and reporting. This role is not a regular full-time position, and work is available based on project requirements. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist with inventory, calibration, and QC documentation of field instruments (PID, dissolved oxygen meter, multi-parameter water quality sonde, interface probe) and sampling supplies
• Assist with staging, loading, and organizing field equipment, PPE, and sample coolers
• Locate and access monitoring wells using site maps and GPS; document well surface conditions and integrity
• Measure depth to groundwater and total well depth using an electronic water level meter
• Purge monitoring wells using low-flow or standard purge methods per project SOPs, tracking water quality stabilization parameters
• Collect groundwater samples for laboratory analysis following low-flow protocols
• Clean re-usable sampling equipment in accordance with project SOPs
• Maintain sample integrity through proper handling, preservation, and temperature control

Qualifications:

• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (per 29 CFR 1910.120)
• Annual 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher (if applicable)
• Current medical clearance 
• Valid driver’s license (for travel between wells/sites)
• Ability to obtain federal installation access badges (DBIDS/EAL badges)
• First Aid/CPR certification (preferred but not required)
• 0–2+ years environmental field experience
• Experience with environmental sampling, laboratory coordination, or field equipment calibration (preferred but not required)
• Prior experience conducting (preferred but not required):
  • Groundwater sampling
  • Well purging and stabilization
  • Environmental data documentation and QC
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift equipment, traverse uneven terrain, and work long field days 

Compensation. The hourly range for this position is between $25 to $28. The actual hourly rate offered depends on factors, including but not limited to, qualifications, years of relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, business need, and market demand. This is not a benefit eligible position.
