Behavioral Health Director
Description

Jenkins County Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Behavioral Health Director and Nurse Manager for our inpatient Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit.


This position provides both administrative and clinical leadership for the unit. The Director and Nurse Manager is responsible for daily operations, nursing oversight, staffing, regulatory compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, and coordination of care with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

 Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily clinical and administrative operations of the Behavioral Health Unit
  • Serve as Nurse Manager and provide leadership and supervision for nursing and behavioral health staff
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, assignments, and coverage based on patient care needs
  • Promote safe, compassionate, and patient-centered behavioral health care
  • Monitor nursing practices, clinical documentation, patient safety, and staff competencies
  • Participate in hiring, orientation, performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action
  • Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, Georgia regulations, and hospital policies
  • Lead survey readiness, quality improvement, and corrective action activities
  • Review incidents, complaints, medication errors, falls, and other patient safety concerns
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer, Medical Director, physicians, Utilization Management, and other hospital departments
  • Monitor departmental performance, census, staffing needs, and quality measures
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, education, and workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia
  • Behavioral health nursing experience
  • Nursing leadership or management experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health nursing, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement
  • Effective leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Three to five years of behavioral health nursing experience
  • Previous experience as a Nurse Manager, Director, House Supervisor, or other nursing leader
  • Experience in an inpatient or geriatric behavioral health setting
