As a Loan Assistant I, you will play a key role in facilitating consumer and commercial loan closings and servicing activities by working closely with Bankers/Lenders, borrowers, and the Loan Operations Team. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple loan files while ensuring documentation, compliance requirements, and customer needs are handled accurately and efficiently. You will help create positive customer experiences while supporting loan growth and operational excellence across the bank.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the primary contact for customer loan inquiries and closings
  • Process consumer and commercial loan applications
  • Enter borrower, guarantor, and signer information into lending systems
  • Complete CIP and Red Flag requirements
  • Coordinate loan closings, including ordering credit reports, flood certifications, title work, appraisals, and loan documents
  • Collect loan fees and prepare loan packages for funding and closing
  • Perform UCC searches and track recordable documents
  • Assist customers with loan payments, advances, and account inquiries
  • Monitor loan exceptions and obtain updated documentation from borrowers and lenders
  • Review reports for past due, coming due, overdraft, and other exceptions
  • Assist with audits, title search tracking, and loan documentation management
  • Serve as a liaison between Bankers/Lenders and the Loan Operations Team
  • Build strong customer relationships and identify referral opportunities
  • Recognize fraud, scams, phishing attempts, and suspicious activity
  • Maintain compliance with banking regulations, policies, and security procedures
  • Travel between branch locations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 3-5 years of banking experience, including customer service and cash handling experience
  • Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, acceptable motor vehicle record, and reliable transportation
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with multiple computer systems and software applications
  • Flexible, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of banking experience
  • Previous experience with consumer and commercial loan processing, documentation, or loan servicing
  • Experience coordinating loan closings and working with lending and loan operations teams
