Fraud Operations Coordinator
Description

About Us:

RunBuggy is the most technically advanced automotive logistics platform on the market. Period.

Backed by Porsche Ventures and Hearst Ventures, RunBuggy is transforming the way cars move. Our cutting-edge technology is trusted by some of the largest OEMs, captive finance companies, and automotive lenders in the world to streamline vehicle transportation at scale.

RunBuggy’s end-to-end platform connects car shippers and haulers in real time - eliminating the friction of traditional load boards and costly custom software. For shippers, RunBuggy integrates directly into existing management systems, reducing transportation costs and accelerating delivery timelines. For transporters, we offer a smarter, more profitable way to find, accept, and manage loads - all from a single app.

Since launching in 2019, RunBuggy has grown to over 190 team members, facilitated the movement of hundreds of thousands of vehicles, and attracted tens of thousands of transporters across the U.S.

We’re not just building a better logistics platform - we’re redefining the future of automotive transportation.

About the Role:

Trusted by the biggest names in automotive, RunBuggy moves thousands of vehicles every week for dealers and commercial shippers, and for individual consumers relocating for the season, heading off to college, or purchasing the collectible car of their dreams from across the country. Most of those orders move without issue. A small number do not.

The Fraud Operations Coordinator sits at that intersection. Approximately 50% of your time is dedicated to our fraud prevention program, including triaging suspicious activity, vetting carriers, supporting investigations, and assisting with recovery efforts. The other 50% is spent partnering with our Transporter Success team, serving as a point of contact for carriers, helping resolve operational challenges, supporting onboarding and engagement efforts, and ensuring our network of transporters has the resources and information needed to move vehicles successfully.

The two halves of the role reinforce one another. Working closely with carriers every day provides firsthand insight into what normal activity looks like, making it easier to identify unusual behavior, suspicious patterns, or potential fraud risks before they impact customers. The vehicles we move are often unique. Some carry significant monetary value, while others hold irreplaceable sentimental value. Every shipment matters to the person who entrusted it to us. Protecting those vehicles, supporting the honest carriers who transport them, and maintaining trust across our marketplace are at the heart of this role.

This position is a hybrid role with 3 days onsite in Tempe, Arizona. Please do not apply if you are unable to work in the office 3 days per week.

If this sounds just like you, then please read on! If you feel this is not in your wheelhouse, that is okay too! We are actively hiring outstanding professionals, so we encourage you to apply to one of our many other opportunities.

Requirements

What You Will Be Doing:

Fraud Operations (approximately 50% of the role, with fraud responsibilities taking priority as needed)

  • Partners with the Transporter Success team to evaluate potential fraud risks associated with new transporters and transporters undergoing periodic review.
  • Keeps every carrier and fraud decision legally defensible by maintaining an immutable system of record in SharePoint - what was reviewed, when, and why, with a named approver, written rationale, timestamps, and point-in-time screenshots (SAFER, CSA, RMIS, insurance).
  • Helps to recover vehicles that are stolen, diverted, or held by assisting with time-sensitive investigations and recovery - locating vehicles and drivers through GPS and telematics, pressing suspected bad actors directly for verification and return, coordinating with law enforcement, terminals, and recovery vendors, and assisting with halting or clawing back payments to limit loss.
  • Contains active threats within minutes as part of the rapid-response point of contact group - disabling accounts, restricting loads, holding payments, and mobilizing recovery to limit exposure while the situation is live.
  • Assists in resolving fraud cases end to end and equips partners to act - preserving platform, GPS and telematics, communication, and document evidence, and preparing case packages for police reports, CargoNet and Verisk submissions, and insurance claims.
  • Surfaces emerging fraud early by triaging daily alert queues - duplicate pickup or delivery information, geo-validation failures, GPS disablement after pickup, anomalous logins, and unusual claim or unclaim behavior - and escalating high-risk patterns to the Fraud Specialist.

Transporter Success & Marketplace Support (approximately 50% of the role)

  • Partners with carriers throughout their lifecycle on the RunBuggy platform, serving as a trusted point of contact for onboarding support, account assistance, operational guidance, and issue resolution.
  • Builds strong relationships with transporters by providing responsive, professional support and helping carriers successfully navigate RunBuggy's products, processes, and marketplace requirements.
  • Supports carrier onboarding, account verification, and ongoing engagement efforts to strengthen carrier participation, retention, and overall marketplace health.
  • Monitors active shipments and carrier activity, proactively identifying and resolving operational challenges that could impact pickup, transit, or delivery performance.
  • Coordinates with carriers, customers, and internal teams to resolve exceptions, scheduling challenges, service concerns, and communication gaps while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Helps transporters achieve success on the platform by educating them on best practices, setting clear expectations, and providing guidance on load opportunities, technology tools, and operational requirements.
  • Uses day-to-day carrier interactions to identify emerging operational risks, unusual behaviors, or marketplace concerns and escalates potential fraud indicators to the Fraud team for further review.
  • Maintains accurate records of carrier interactions, operational issues, and resolutions, ensuring visibility and continuity across teams.
  • Contributes to a positive marketplace experience by balancing the needs of carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders while protecting service quality and operational efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned to meet the requirements of the role.

  • Strong written documentation skills - clear, factual, defensible case narratives.
  • Composure to hold difficult, high-stakes conversations with uncooperative or hostile parties - including suspected bad actors - while staying professional, factual, and firm.
  • Ability to move fast and stay uber-responsive under pressure, shifting between focused investigative work and live, time-sensitive support - and into rapid-response mode, including after-hours and weekend availability, when an active threat is in progress.
  • High integrity and discretion with sensitive, confidential, and legally significant information, plus strong organization, prioritization, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Hands-on dispatch, load coordination, or transportation customer service experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, carrier authority and insurance requirements, and DOT compliance preferred.
  • Hands-on use of carrier vetting or screening platforms such as RMIS, Truckstop.com, Highway, or similar preferred.
