Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Working Team Lead – Production and Machinery to oversee day-to-day production while working alongside the team. This is a working lead position—not a desk or supervisor-only role. We are looking for someone who already has experience operating, setting up, and troubleshooting production machinery and equipment, as well as leading people in a production environment. You will spend most of the day working alongside the production team while coordinating workflow, reinforcing safety and quality standards, and keeping production moving.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Work alongside the production team and operate equipment for most of the shift.
  • Step into different equipment positions as needed to keep production moving.
  • Coordinate daily staffing and workflow and communicate priorities to the team.
  • Perform machine setup, changeovers, routine operator-level maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Perform and reinforce basic quality checks, including measurements and visual inspections, and address or escalate defects when identified.
  • Use Excel to track production, downtime, scrap, and other basic daily numbers.
  • Use our internal system to keep work orders and inventory information accurate and up to date.
  • Train and coach operators, set expectations, monitor performance, and provide day-to-day direction.
  • Maintain a clean and organized production area and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Identify production or equipment issues, communicate them clearly, and escalate issues to management when needed.
  • Help improve processes and put better standards in place when opportunities are identified.
Requirements

Requirements

  •  At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with production or mechanical equipment, including setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance.
  •  Previous experience in a Lead, Supervisor, Senior Operator, Line Lead, or similar role with responsibility for directing, training, and guiding the work of others.
  • Comfortable working hands-on around moving production machinery with a strong focus on safety.
  • Experience with machine setup, changeovers, basic troubleshooting, and diagnostic review.
  • Able to perform basic measurements, math, and quality checks and follow established production standards.
  • Comfortable using computers and Excel for basic production tracking, data entry, totals, and simple spreadsheets.
  • Forklift and pallet jack experience.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. occasionally to frequently.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet throughout the shift.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to communicate clearly with both employees and management.

Preferred, But Not Required

  • Experience using a production, manufacturing, ERP, or inventory management system.
  • Experience with continuous improvement practices such as 5S, standard work, or basic root-cause problem solving
  • Experience performing quality inspections or working from product specifications and measurements.
