The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of Dominique Dawes Academy by ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent accounting and financial reporting across a growing multi-location organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for leading the month-end close process, performing multi-location account reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting for both established and newly opened locations.
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in strengthening the Academy’s accounting infrastructure, internal controls, and financial processes as the organization continues to grow. This position works collaboratively with Finance, Operations, and location leadership to maintain accurate financial records, identify trends and discrepancies, and provide reliable financial information to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Close Process: Lead the monthly close process across all gym locations, preparing accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Multi-Location Reporting: Consolidate financial results across existing and newly opened locations, ensuring a consistent chart of accounts and reporting standards.
- Variance Analysis: Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance reports, identifying trends and anomalies for leadership review.
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
- Revenue Recognition: Ensure membership dues, camp fees, and event revenue are recognized accurately across all locations.
- AP/AR Oversight: Process accounts payable and support accounts receivable activities, ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate tracking of outstanding balances.
- Capital Expenditure Tracking: Track construction and build-out costs for new locations, ensuring proper capitalization and depreciation schedules.
Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls
- Internal Controls: Design and maintain internal controls that scale effectively across a growing multi-unit footprint.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Serve as a key point of contact for annual audits, tax preparation, and state and local compliance requirements as the organization expands into new states.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required.
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a multi-unit, franchise, or multi-location service business.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling) required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close best practices.
- Comfort managing the accounting needs of both established cash-flowing gyms and new locations still under construction.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines across a fast-growing portfolio of locations.
- Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders (General Managers, Regional Directors).
Work Schedule & Environment
- Primarily office-based work performed during standard business hours, with additional availability as needed to support month-end close, audits, reporting deadlines, and other time-sensitive financial activities.
- Professional office environment with regular use of a computer, accounting systems, spreadsheets, and other business technology.
- Fast-paced, multi-location environment requiring the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and financial needs across established and newly opened locations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work for extended periods at a computer and perform repetitive keyboarding and data-entry tasks.
- Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and by telephone.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.
