Job Title: Senior Photoshop Programmer

Classification: Full-Time, non-exempt

Hourly Compensation: DOE

Reports to: Studio Manager

Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday, 8am- 5pm 

Location: In-Office (no remote), 5000 N Basin Ave., Portland, OR 97217

General Summary: We are seeking a Senior Photoshop Automation Programmer to join our creative production team and develop innovative technology that makes professional image production faster, smarter, and more scalable. This role combines software development, Photoshop expertise, and creative-production knowledge, with a focus on building and improving automation, scripts, tools, and workflows. Working closely with retouchers, Project Managers, and Studio leadership, you’ll identify production challenges and create practical solutions that reduce repetitive work, improve efficiency and consistency, and increase overall studio capacity. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced programmer who understands professional Photoshop workflows, enjoys solving complex production problems, and is excited to use technology to transform the way creative work gets done.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

• Develop automation solutions for Photoshop and image-production workflows using JavaScript and C++
• Create new tools that increase production speed, efficiency, consistency, and capacity
• Automate repetitive or time-consuming Photoshop and image-processing tasks
• Develop solutions for automated image generation, processing, file preparation, and production workflows
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing scripts and automation systems
• Work directly with retouchers to understand their workflow and identify opportunities for automation

• 5+ years of professional Photoshop experience
• 5+ years of C++ programming experience
• 5+ years of JavaScript programming/scripting experience
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience creating Photoshop scripts, automation, tools, plugins, or related production solutions
• Experience troubleshooting and improving existing automation
• Strong understanding of digital imaging and creative-production workflows

Preferred Qualifications

• Photoshop SDK or plugin development
• Photoshop Actions and advanced scripting
• Automated batch processing
• Image-generation or image-processing systems
• MacOS development
• Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems
• Database integration
• File-system and production workflow automation
• Experience working in a commercial photography, retouching, advertising, or creative-production environment

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional, fast-paced creative production environment that requires sustained focus, attention to detail, collaboration, and extended periods of computer-based work. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
