Overall Purpose

The Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) plays a pivotal role in facilitating holistic recovery—addressing the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical well-being of residents through clinical counseling, education, and discipleship. Operating in compliance with State of New Jersey substance use treatment standards and aligned with the mission of Good News Home, this position integrates Christian principles and biblical scripture into every aspect of client care to build a strong spiritual foundation for long-term recovery. 

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning: Conduct comprehensive clinical intake assessments, obtain medical/personal histories, and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to each client's unique recovery goals. 
• Individual & Group Counseling: Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, monitoring client progress, readiness for change, and spiritual growth. 
• Faith-Integrated Clinical Care: Combine evidence-based substance use treatment with biblical concepts, scripture, and spiritual support to facilitate complete, holistic healing for residents. 
• Case Management & Compliance: Oversee biosocial and legal aspects of client care. Maintain timely, accurate case histories, progress notes, and treatment plan updates in the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. 
• State Reporting (NJSAMS): Utilize the New Jersey Substance Abuse Monitoring System (NJSAMS) for client admissions, authorizations, level-of-care tracking, and discharge reporting. 
• Family Support & Life Skills: Engage with family members to provide recovery education and community resources. Assist residents with developing practical coping strategies, personal budgeting, and life skills (including guided personal shopping). 
• Community Engagement: Educate clients on community-based support networks, vocational programs, and employment services to support successful community reintegration. 
• Residential Presence: Maintain an approachable, supportive presence across the residential facility and collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary care team.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Active New Jersey Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) credential required.
• Experience: Prior experience providing substance use disorder counseling to women in a residential or group home setting is highly preferred.
• EHR & Billing: Proven experience documenting in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and familiarity with medical insurance billing processes.
• Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of NJSAMS.
• Spiritual Alignment: Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of addiction and a strong commitment to integrating biblical scripture and Christian principles into recovery counseling.
• Soft Skills: Empathetic, compassionate communication style with the ability to build rapport with clients facing complex trauma and co-occurring issues.
• Administrative Skills: Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Driver's License: Valid driver’s license required.
