The Mental Health Therapist – Virtual Care plays a vital role in advancing this mission by delivering compassionate, evidence-based mental health care through our secure, virtual-first platform.

We are seeking compassionate, licensed Mental Health Therapists who are passionate about helping individuals navigate life's challenges and achieve meaningful, lasting change. In this role, you will provide evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.

Position Summary

As a valued member of our mental health care team, you will collaborate virtually with clinical leadership, psychiatrists and PMHNP to deliver coordinated, whole-person care that improves outcomes and expands access to behavioral health services. • Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field. 
• Active independent clinical licensure in at least one of the following jurisdictions: Washington, DC, Maryland (MD), or Virginia (VA). Willing to get licensed in additional states preferred. 
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience providing therapy to youth, adults, and individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges. 
• Experience treating patients ages 13 and older. 
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions. 
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, documentation, and organizational skills. 
• Experience providing telehealth services. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with specialized populations or treatment areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, or grief and loss. 
• Familiarity with Athena One EHR and electronic health record documentation standards. 

Other Requirements

Assessment & Evaluation:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs.
• Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with client goals.

Therapeutic Interventions:

• Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy using modalities such as CBT and DBT.
• Deliver care virtually.

Monitoring & Documentation:

• Track client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment outcomes.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work collaboratively with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Communicate treatment plans, progress, and recommendations with clients, families, and stakeholders.

Crisis Intervention:

• Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress.
• Develop safety plans and strategies to prevent or mitigate crises.

Education & Support:

• Educate clients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.

Schedule Expectations:

• Full-time position, 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling options that can include daytime, evenings, and weekends. 
• Maintain a weekly caseload of approximately 28 to 32 patient visits while meeting quality, documentation, and access standards. 

Compensation

• $70,000 - $85,000 annually.
