The WeeWACs Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children participating in the Washington Athletic Club's childcare and youth enrichment programs. This role leads classroom activities, supports age-appropriate learning experiences, mentors assistant teachers, and fosters positive relationships with children and families. The Lead Teacher plays an important role in delivering exceptional care while supporting the overall mission and family-focused experience of WeeWACs.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Leadership

· Plan and lead daily educational and enrichment activities that support children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

· Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment.

· Ensure children are actively engaged through age-appropriate learning and play experiences.

· Supervise children at all times, maintaining a safe and nurturing atmosphere.

Curriculum & Program Delivery

· Implement educational programs and activities aligned with WeeWACs standards and best practices in early childhood development.

· Prepare materials, activities, and learning environments that encourage creativity, curiosity, and growth.

· Adapt programming to meet the developmental needs of children across a variety of age groups.

· Support special events, camps, and seasonal programming.

Team Support

· Provide guidance and support to other Teachers and staff,

· Model excellent childcare practices and professionalism.

· Assist with onboarding and training new team members as needed.

· Collaborate with the WeeWACs Manager to ensure consistency in program quality and operations.

Family Engagement

· Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers.

· Communicate effectively regarding children's experiences, achievements, and any concerns.

· Deliver exceptional member service and help create a welcoming environment for families.

Safety & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with Washington State licensing regulations and WAC policies.

· Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation.

· Follow health, safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and secure learning environment.

Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years of experience working in childcare, preschool, early learning, youth programs, or a related field.

· Lead Teacher qualifications consistent with Washington State licensing requirements preferred.

· Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate educational practices.

· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to lead activities, manage behavior positively, and foster meaningful connections with children and families.

· Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
