We are seeking a Musical Director for the 2026-2027 School Year. 

A Hillel Musical Director will be committed to providing an outstanding experience and will aim to inspire each student’s talents. 

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Musical Director to plan and execute two (2) musical shows in March 2027. This comprehensive role involves all aspects of production, from licensing and auditions to rehearsals, performances, and cleanup, from October 2026-March 2027.  Student participation will be from 4th grade to 8th grade.

Key Responsibilities 

Show Planning and Execution: 

• Purchase the musical license and secure rights for the performances. 

• Design and create the set and procure or design costumes as needed. 

• Coordinate with a choreographer, sound/light team, and musical accompaniment (if applicable) • Meet with students during lunch/recess one day prior to auditions to promote the show and answer questions. 

• Manage and adhere to the allocated musical budget, ensuring all expenses are tracked and kept within limits. 

Auditions and Rehearsals: 

• Conduct auditions in late October/early November to select the cast. 

• Schedule and lead rehearsals on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:45 PM to 5:00 PM. 

• Organize a full-day dress rehearsal leading up to the show. 

• Create and have students and/or families sign performance contracts to ensure commitment and set clear expectations. 

Communication and Coordination: 

• Develop and distribute a detailed rehearsal schedule. 

• Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding rehearsal times, costume needs, and performance details. 

• Collaborate with the Advancement team to promote the show within the school and the wider community. 

• Work with the Director of Grades 6-8, as needed.
