Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate human resources professional to join our team in supporting our growing software company. The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle and helps deliver an engaging employee experience. Working closely with the Director of Human Resources, managers, and employees, this position is responsible for a broad range of human resources activities, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, HR systems, compliance, training, and employee engagement.
The HR Generalist must be comfortable balancing day-to-day administrative responsibilities with employee-facing support and longer-term initiatives. The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, resourceful, and able to exercise sound judgement while handling confidential and sensitive information.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Recruiting and Onboarding
- Own the full recruiting cycle, including sourcing, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and completed reference and background checks.
- Partner with hiring managers to support an organized, consistent, and positive candidate experience.
- Prepare offer letters and other pre-employment documentation.
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, employment documentation, system access, and introductory training.
- Monitor onboarding progress and gather feedback to continuously improve the new hire experience.
Employee Support and Relations
- Serve as an accessible resource for employees regarding company policies, benefits, workplace expectations, and general HR questions.
- Support managers in addressing employee concerns, interpersonal issues, and performance concerns.
- Maintain objectivity, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling sensitive situations.
- Help identify employee experience trends and recommend practical solutions.
Benefits and Leave Administration
- Support the administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and wellness benefits.
- Assist employees with benefit questions, enrollment changes, qualifying life events, and connections to benefit vendors.
- Serve as a backup to the Director of Human Resources for administering employee leave programs.
- Partner with payroll, benefit providers, and other vendors to resolve employee questions.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS and other HR systems.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports related to headcount, turnover, recruiting, attendance, benefits, and other workforce metrics.
- Process employee changes related to compensation, job titles, reporting relationships, benefits, and employment status.
- Complete employment verifications, personnel reports, audits, and routine HR documentation.
- Support Form I-9 administration, record retention, policy acknowledgements, and other employment compliance requirements.
- Monitor employee work authorization expiration dates, communicate upcoming deadlines, and coordinate timely reverification in accordance with Form I-9 requirements. Escalate issues to the Director of Human Resources as necessary.
- Monitor changes in employment laws and HR practices and help implement necessary updates.
Performance, Training, and Engagement
- Assist the Director of Human Resources in coordinating performance management activities, including goal-setting, review cycles, employee communications, and completion tracking.
- Support employee engagement surveys and assist with reviewing results and coordinating follow-up actions.
- Help plan employee recognition activities, company events, wellness initiatives, and other programs that strengthen our company culture.
- Support internal communications related to HR programs, policies, deadlines, and employee resources.
Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related field
- 3+ years of human resources experience
- Working knowledge of recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, and HR operations.
- General knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with an HRIS (Paylocity preferred).
- Experience utilizing AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency, communication, research, and HR processes while maintaining confidentiality and applying appropriate human judgement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgement.
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate an issue.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Human resources experience within a software, technology, or professional services organization preferred.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or another relevant HR certification preferred.
