Description

The Shipping Assistant will work to ensure packages are properly labeled, packed, and delivered for our clients and vendors. Good organizational skills are essential because this position requires a that multiple details are accurate.  All relevant information must be accurately recorded in our database. 


Duties and Responsibilities 


The Shipping Assistant will focus on shipping of ABS products, which mainly consists of packaging ABS’ client and vendor packages to our standards. The Shipping Assistant will package shipments with temperatures of ambient, refrigerated, frozen ice packs, and frozen dry ice.  


 The Shipping Assistant may also be asked to do other tasks such as: 


    Tracking our outbound and inbound shipments via our tracking dashboard. 


    Alert the Facilities and Logistics Manager of any delays, exceptions, closures, etc. from our couriers. 


    Relay any incoming calls regarding clearance problems or package discrepancies to the Facilities and Logistics Manager. 


    Inventory our shipping supplies such as labels, kits, cold packs, etc. 


    Logging discrepancies for packaging that do not comply and/or do not match our system notes. 


 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities 


   Testing our packaging supplies for vulnerabilities.  


    Working with the Facilities and Logistics Manager to improve our logistics procedures and supplies.  


    Working with outside vendors for materials, updates, etc.  


    Reviewing and/or editing shipping/receiving work instructions and standard operating procedures.  

Requirements

   Education: A high school diploma is required.  College student is preferred. 


   Language Skills: The Shipping Assistant must be fluent in English and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.  All written communications should be grammatically correct without spelling errors.   


    Mathematics skills:  A basic understanding of arithmetic and elementary algebra, such as calculation of percentages and the creation and interpretation of simple graphs, is required.  


    Computer Skills:  The Shipping Assistant must be able to search the Internet independently to find necessary information. 


    The Shipping Assistant must become completely proficient in the use of NetSuite functions relating to the process which they are being trained to do once trained at ABS. 


    Basic proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint is also required.
